Proof 2026 cent has blood on the frosted obv bust. Can it be removed safely?

Hi all, I just received my proof sets for 2026 and I was removing them from the original packaging and putting them in safe 2.5x2.5 flips. All of the coins looked great except when I got the cent out and inspected it in hand without the plastic. I notice that a worker must have nicked themselves and there are distinct blotches on the surface of Lincoln that is frosted. Can that be removed safely. Thanks you.

I have no experience with this question. I would say return the entire set.
because copper is so reactive , you better hope someone here has first hand experience treating a modern proof, otherwise I'd say return it. if you've destroyed the packaging, buy another and open it without the packaging destruction, then return it.
Thanks @CaptHenway for being honest. I am primarily a Cent collector and have used Acetone and occasionally Xylene on my cents. They will tell me I have to send all of my sets back if I go that route. I will keep them. The other sets are in good shape. That is why I was wondering what others might suggest. I hope to have a picture later tonight to show the issue.
Thanks @MsMorrisine, I appreciate your response. The packaging is in good shape so I might just put it back together and sell this set at a coin show. I will certainly disclose to the buyer what I see on the cent. I wouldn’t want someone to not tell me even if I was a novice collector.
i think these are put together by machine fwiw
Can you send a pic? Just curious. Are you sure it is blood and not some other encrustation.

first we do a Kastle-Meyer Test. once confirmed we can extract the dna and clone the culprit. in 20 years we'll have the identity of the abuser
@MsMorrisine , I lifted the left corner and the whole front opened up very easily without damaging the packaging. There won’t be an issue repackaging the set.
@pcgsregistrycollector, I’m working on it. Hope to have it later tonight.
@pcgsregistrycollector , I’ve had copper spots on gold coins and safety removed those to resubmit and grade 70 from 69 but I don’t think it is a copper spot. I might be wrong but it doesn’t look like that to me.
seems a bit new for a copper spot.
it may not be blood as dried blood might be a little crusty.
acetone is overused on here to attempt to treat everything. i don't know what it is but if you want to rinse it off with something safe, then try pure acetone. who knows, it may rinse off
Thanks @MsMorrisine , I’m very cautious about messing with coins unless I have gotten a consensus from as many collectors as I can to limit the risk. I might end up doing that. I haven’t had any experience with proof coins with frosted devices. I will wait and see what some others might have to say before I try that.
@pcgsregistrycollector might not be the best photographs. Here is what I ended up with
Somehow, that does not look like blood to me. Not sure what it is.
On a different subject, is that hyper-grainy "frosting" normal on Proofs these days? If so, I weep.
@CaptHenway it was all I could think of to attribute it too. The coin is a new item. It’s not raised like something dropped on it. I thought maybe copper. The color in hand does kind of look like it. I just don’t understand how it could have happened. I did put that set back together and will be calling to see if they will take one back even though the paperwork has multiples purchased. I’m hoping they will. I really only wanted the cent for my collection.
This is the only proof cent I own. Sort of? It's not as bad as the pic above but noticeable.
EDIT: It's mostly noticeable like that on the cent. Other issues have a touch of graininess but nowhere near as prominent.

I hate the laser frosting, personally. There is real loss of detail.
I doubt they would accept a return that was busted out of the packaging.
@NJCoin i am sure you are right. I’m going to call anyway and tell them I opened the case. All they can do is say no. At least I will have a clear conscious by being honest about it. Those cases are very easy to open without damaging the case or the coins. I was surprised. I looked at all of the coins before I pulled them out of the packaging. For some reason I missed the cents issue.
if you have put it back together in an unnoticeable way then no need to call. you can send just 1 whole set back
This ^^^. If you can put it back in a way that is not noticeable, just do that. Because, if you ask them, they are going to tell you no.
