Cannot find a chart of the old and new rates. Saw a comment that they will increase on average 4.8%.
First Class postage rate to go up 4 cents. Buy your FOREVER stamps now.
Supposed to be temporary, until Jan. 16. Aren't last year's fuel surcharges still in effect?

Forever stamps went up 4 cents in July, I can't find anything indicating they are going up 4 cents again.

@MWallace Can you talk to someone about this? 😉

Every year they raise the package rates for the holidays.

Thank you. I looked for something like this but could not find it.
So First Class postage is NOT going up.
UPS's holiday rate increases are being phased in starting this week for oversized and awkward packages, then October 25 for everything else.

Paid $10.20 for ground advantage this morning! Totally unaffordable to sell widgets on eBay now. They even take 13% of the shipping fee!

eBay hasn't increased their % rate, it costs more to ship because the USPS raised theirs. The USPS is responsible for making shipping unaffordable.
Yes, that's the content of the thread. My point is that if you're selling low value widgets on eBay (say, $20 items) it can cost you half of the sale just to ship the item out.

I told our long term usps counter lady about it last week; it was news to her.
Even if you are shipping something 3-4 oz GA can be $8-$9. Distance coast to coast, Hawaii or Alaska can be high, rural locations, etc.. If you're shipping ebay items FedEx and UPS can be less.
Depends on the item and the destination.
I sold 250 Trump dollars for $3 49 with free shipping and made money.

Yes, in my scenario I made money, too. But was it worth the time? Anyway, the point I was trying to make (and it seemed obvious) is that increased shipping costs cut into the profit to the point that itnis hardly worth selling thise items on eBay . $10 shipping is no way to send a $20 item!

I agree. Unfortunately, there's no cheaper option to send. Some things just can't be sold remotely.

Must have to make up for all the insurance payouts from employee theivery........... I recently had another purchase from GC stolen when it got into the hands of the USPS. That made 2 times in 4 weeks last month.

"temporary raise in price" Yeah, I don't think these will be temporary.

They will be temporary. They do it every year, for the last 5 years or so. They go back down in January. This is nothing new.

Must be your local post office or GC's. I haven't had a Ground Advantage or priority package go missing in 3 years or so. And that's about 5000 packages.

Traditionally USPS never failed me however recently many issues.
One sent package damaged and in the 3rd appeal for insurance. Another package has not moved in 17 days. A birthday card delivered and opened to remove gift card.
Considering how little I send this is a lot to deal with in a short time period.
Receiving end one package hung up in Chicago but that is normal. Another sender in Richmond will not use his Local USPS and paid extra for FedEx.

My last first class package to go missing was about 12 years ago, I don't even know if there was such a thing as Ground Advantage at the time. I've had three packages lost in the last 20 years or so and no lost Priority packages.
.
It's on GC's end.i was told it was an ongoing problem only with the ground packages. The packages disappear before they get scanned into the postal system.

Interesting. And they don't know who's doing it?

No - Raeleen said the post office is not being of any help trying to investigate it.
