Another 1966 counterfeit slab

I found another fake 1966 slab listed on Ebay. This one is of a low pop leader card. It recently was sold on Ebay and is now listed again for a significantly larger amount of money. I reported it to Ebay and got the typical reply that we nothing suspicious and the first seller bypassed the authenticity guarantee. I have reported it to PSA so hopefully they will intervene. It's a tough pop 12 card. Item #407243398426 if you care to look.

Peeps here be loving trimmed cards and those who trim them therefore logical to think they also loves them fake slabs.

Sticks a MBA sticker, perhaps even a fake sticker, on that fake slab and some here will fawn all over it.

Phony slabs with phony stickers will require yet another company to provide customer support until it just becomes an industry within itself. Then eBay will need professional authenticators to authenticate specifically what is non-authentic.

Won't this sale get terminated through Authenticity Guarantee?

Maybe? Stuff slips through perhaps that is what seller banks on.

We shall see. I reported it to psa but who knows how thorough they are. First thing they should do with the authenticity guarantee is to scan that barcode because it wont jive. This card sold on Sept 16 for $272.68 and that seller avoided the authenticity guarantee with the way he listed it. I despise scammers.

Does not look remotely real for that era.

Am I correct that there's two different cards besides the holder problem?

    Font/Font Spacing for one.

One Example: Note difference in gap between 1966 and Topps. In above the top of the "T" in Topps extends midway above the B in R.B.I. In capture below The T barely reaches the the edge of the B. Then look at where the bottom of the T lines up with R.B.I.

Going by the title of the thread, was there a huge batch of 1966 Topps PSA Fakes? I was looking at a Bird/Magic rookie card, and the seller has such bad pictures it makes me question its authenticity. The eBay item# 336815485031 if you want to look at the bad pictures. The same seller has a 1966 Topps PSA (Don Sutton Rookie Stars) -- where the spacing between 1966 and TOPPS is wide, but I don't know which is legit -- wide vs. narrow gap...

That Sutton slab does not look right to me. It may very well be within 3 dollar bill territory.

Bird/Magic would not touch that myself unless the pics were clean. I mean there are clearer circa 1938 pics of Nessie than that card.

I had posted previously on a 1966 PSA 9 Carl Yastrzemski. I had won it on Ebay and then immediately noticed the font, barcode, and spacing was off. I looked at previous sales and found the exact same cert number. It was not the same card, flip, nor barcode. I had to get ugly to get Greg Morris to cancel the sale. They later relisted it and I again reported it to Ebay and PSA. I also posted on this board that it had been relisted and it eventually got pulled down. I don't know what ever became of it. Hopefully, not sitting in someone's collection.

So even Greg Morris is not above Fraud. Amazing that there is not even one honest trading card selling entity

It's possible an employee screwed up. Maybe they were unaware and just went through the motions with the Yaz card at the behest of the submitter. That doesn't make the owner fraudulent. You like to take jabs at the supposed criminals permeating the hobby. That's cool. I think GMC is capable of mistakes or poor judgement, but they're not on the same level as your favorite targets.

Yeah and its why its so disappointing.

If they do not have a review process after a customer report like tigerdeans its indictive at minimum of slipshod operation

Enjoy your bitters. How appropriate. The situation was ultimately resolved. Glad to have an actual relationship with Greg as a fellow participant in the business for many years. I know him very well. I believe your accusation is intended to smear his reputation and that it’s wrong. There’s no comparison with others proven fraudulent here, there and everywhere else.

Had tigerdean had not reported the relisting it gets sold again probably to someone who was not as knowledgeable.

OK yeah sure this situation was resolved but only due to tigerdean's tenacity. For every one of these situations that comes to light how many do not?

Greg Morris is supposed to be way better than the normal ilk, perhaps its not really by all that much. At very least they need an internal process to investigate any item involved in situation like tigerdean's before relisting.

Get back to me with some more horrible transgressions committed, I’ll wait. You’re making a false accusation based on one issue. ONE. As I said, enjoy your bitters. The persistent need to tear people down is what you’re all about. Trash those who deserve it.

People read this forum, even if they don’t post. Sharing false information is shameful. You should be willing to offer valid proof to back up your contentions. You’re posting BS about my friend, my business associate. I won’t shrug it off.

Unlike you I for one do not think tigerdean is lying. But I welcome hearing the Morris side from them as if that would ever happen.

I’m done with you as it would be unwise to prolong this and risk getting a punishment from the zookeeper. Jump to your own conclusions as you feel it’s necessary. I will do my best to remind people here of my support for a genuinely good company.

You can take any business in any field and they will have negative reviews. No business is perfect. Especially if they do a high volume of transactions. I would still put GMCards at the top of the hobby integrity list. Just like Steve Hart. He's had some blunders but 99.5% of the work he's done has helped collectors avoid fraud.

Yep. When you look at the total volume of sales Gregg Morris Cards does you lose that personal relationship with seller/buyer sometimes. You are both right and both wrong. No need to argue.

Which is why they need defined process to prevent these situations and reputation impact.

True. As someone who has his own business for a long time it comes down to intent. We work VERY hard not to make mistakes or anger clients but sometimes it just happens. Sometimes it's our fault and sometimes it isn't. What it can never be is because we intentionally decide to do that.

Based on Morris' amount of transactions I'd guess there have to be times they miss things. The statistically minute amount of times those errors happen also indicates they're deserving of their stellar reputation.

I went so far as to read some of GMC's negative feedback on eBay, because it does exist. Some of it isn't very flattering. However, it IS part of the game. No denying that. Maybe some folks are disgruntled, some just expected better. Some even used the word FRAUD. Angry people do angry things.
