1903 and 1900-O submitted for CAC sticker- Results are in!

Will they get a bean in your opinion?
I am hoping for a gold bean on the 1903. It is immaculate.
The 1900-O is really clean also a gold bean is 50/50 in my opinion.
I purchased these from a collector who didnt know what cac is so I know they have not been submitted.
I will post results once received.

I'll guess green on both. Purely a guess. They look good!

Both are nice coins, I think both would merit a green!

Green bean; MS64 gold would be a major leap, there was no doubt something hindering it from the gem grade originally. Gem to MS66, another leap, not so large but unlikely to get the gold; not enough of a "wow" factor.

Both would get a green, a slight chance on the 1903 to get gold

While both coins look nice I can’t ascertain anything from those pics.

    Many happy BST transactions

I understand what you are saying. I would take better images but they are submitted.
They are super clean though. Very few hits and no hairlines.
It will be interesting to see.
Some of these OGH's were very conservatively graded. I think this pair falls under that category.
I can honestly say these are two of the nicest Morgans I have bought in an OGH.
Ill post images once I get them back.

I like them both, and both look clean and well graded.
I'm excited for you, and can't wait to hear the results.
However, all b/c they are in older slabs doesn't guarantee a bean, and only based on scans above my gut says neither gets a bean, I hope I'm dead wrong.

Hard to determine from the pics but I'll guess the 03 gets a Green and the 00-O doesn't bean.
    Please let us know.

I am not disagreeing with you. I just want to see what you see. To me the 1900-O is super frosty especially around the devices. You can see it in the image around Liberties head. It also has no hits just a few grazes. The cheeks is smooth and clean.

Is there a scratch or slide marks on the reverse of the '03. On left wing.
    Would that matter?

Definetly not. I carefully looked these over for problems. There are none.

The white areas, above the cap, in front of the mouth/nose, on the rev wreath and across the breast. These may be nothing, may just be lighting reflections, or may be something, often if JA spots something like PVC he will use a round red sticker with PVC or whatever is applicable. I hope I'm wrong, and I likely am, but those concern me from the photos.

Without a sticker it retains the optionality of the potential upside of a gold sticker. With a green sticker the ceiling has been set.

I’ve always read the logic here on the board that if a nice coin doesn’t have a sticker it could be assumed to have been submitted and rejected for CAC acceptance.

    From outside looking in...
    1) If a slab is not stickered it may be assumed that it has been sent to CAC and did not pass which would make it less desirable "to some."
    2) If it's stickered with a Green Bean it is in the top percentage for its assigned grade, maxed out with no further chance of upgrade "to some."
    3) If it's stickered with a Gold Bean the coin is believed to be undergraded by at least 1 point and you can assume what you desire from here pricewise.

These coins are super clean and I still believe deserving of a higher grade but im not messing with them anymore. Im just going to sell them as they are but worth a premium.
Ive compared the dates with others on ebay with a CAC sticker and its not even close.

Like many, if not most owners of coins, you’re not objective about yours and tend to view them through rose-colored glasses.

That logic is usually sound for more expensive coins.

But for lower value and much more common coins, that assumption is not nearly as safe. For example, Greysheet for a 1900-O MS65 is $185. Many people, particularly dealers, wouldn't want to spend $26 in grading fees plus shipping to send a coin of that value in for sticker review, particularly if it doesn't have a shot at a gold sticker in their opinion.

Agreed about the lower value coins.

It’s perfectly fine to play it safe and assume that any high value coins without stickers have been submitted. But in many instances, the assumption will be wrong.

There is still the possibility the coin could upgrade to a "+" or the next higher grade.

I assert that in many cases a high end old holder attractive coin is better off not having a green sticker because it signifies it’s been to CAC and rejected for a gold sticker which limits the price

Your logic is obviously correct in some cases, particularly the high end, attractive caveat. It was probably more correct before this market was so picked over.

Rattlers, OGHs, and fatties have been picked over, cracked out, and stickered so much that many of the unstickered coins remaining have issues like PVC or overgrading. A decent percentage are unstickerable.

So these days, I tend to look at unstickered old holders with the suspicion that it's been picked over or has issues. I wonder why, 40 years after PCGS started, has this coin not been tried for a sticker.

Your comment really got me thinking as far as this threads content goes.
I didnt the footwork already. Its done. They received a green bean and thats how I will be selling them.
I still think thats a good thing. They are high end coins for the grade and its settled.
Buy the coin and not the holder. Thats what I try to do. Ive had to learn some hard lessons.
Im not a dealer but I am the collector who bought the coins believing they very well could have received a gold sticker.
I paid up for them too.
    Why?
Because they are really beautiful coins and the plastic is really in perfect condition so you can tell it hasn't been passed around.
In fact I bought 5 coins from the person who originally submitted them to PCGS.
Im not upset that I didnt get a gold bean.
I had high hopes because they really look gold to me and still do.
Its really hard to get a gold bean if it wasn't they wouldn't be so special.
I have had some success with gold beans in the past. It just didnt pan out this time.
