Grade in and I did well. 3 leg Buffalo

This was the 1st coin I purchased from eBay using their new Authenticity Guarantee program. Obverse picture was good but the reverse picture was pretty bad. I could tell it was a real 3 legged but I wasn’t sure if there were any problems the seller was trying to hide with the blurry picture.
Once I finally received the coin (almost 3 week process) I sent it out to NGC as I had some credit with them. I just received the coin today from FedEx and I must say I did quite well. This will be replacing the XF45 I have in my collection. I got lucky on this one for sure.

Congratulations.
Great pick up! Looks like the seller is not very good at grading Bufflo Nickels. "Condition: Ungraded Fine to Very Fine".
Wow, nice result!
Congrats ya did good with it
Excellent!

You tripled your investment! I'll bet you feel like a million bucks!
I didn't know that NGC was turning around submissions that quickly.
$725+$50=$3000. I like that math! 😂
I'm BACK!!! Used to be Billet7 on the old forum.
Nice score! Well done!
Not sure yet. I’m actually sitting on 5 of them at the moment.

That prevents the hoarders from getting them 😂
I recall a dealer at Summer FUN with at least 10-12 of them, all slabbed, at reasonable prices. While I was at their table looking at other coins, another customer came up and asked if he had a 3-legger. I had to suppress a laugh, while the dealer said yes he has a few of them. The customer looked at some of them, said thanks, and was going to shop around…
That’s a fantastic coin. Congratulations!

Wow, nice job.
Always one of my favorite coins. I bought my first one in 1976. Owned many since.......Never scored like that though !
Very nice!

If someone is in a hurry, NGC's new Fast Track option has worked very well for me.
That's the first I heard of this: https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/13732/fast-track/
Congratulations!
Congrats!

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I don’t know where you got the $3000 part of that equation, but it couldn’t have been from what AU58’s have been selling for.

I take it that you’re a fan of eBay’s new Authenticity Guarantee program? 😉
Congratulations.

I have no idea why someone selling a three legged buffalo has such a poor reverse picture and this is a seller with 65k transactions. Go figure.
I guess if he sends it to cac and it gets a gold sticker.
If you’re going to guess that, I’ll guess if a flying pig is paying $3000 for all the NGC AU58’s it can find.

Mark, you've been on fire this whole weekend.
It's enjoyable to read.
Congratulations on the AU58 grade! Here's a little story for you: Maybe five years ago, while browsing at one of my local coin shops, my brother texted me that he had just been given a buffalo nickel in change. "That's great!," I texted. "You'll never guess where I am! I'm in a coin shop, of all places!" Then, I asked the date. He replied, 1937-D We are both in our fifties, but we collected as kids, so he knew to look for the mintmark. "That's even better! How many legs are there?!" He didn't understand. Here is amazing part: I had, only minutes before his notification, glanced over a three-legged variety in the case! ~ protected raw, in an Air-Tite holder. I shared this wild coincidence with the shop owner so he could be in on the excitement. The owner said it was okay to send a picture of the three-legged specimen to my brother, so that's how my story ends. I still remember the price, $750, but I don't collect nickels, so I passed on it. It sold some time after. My story would be more interesting if I had pulled the trigger on the coin.

I have no idea, I just saw the PCGS price guide. Either way, a good price.
Edited to add, the average here is just over $2800, so not terribly off.

To be fair, the first two sales you posted were PCGS examples.
The third one (at $2318) was graded by NGC. And the two NGC sales prior to it were at $2440 and $2257. Still, a great result.

It appears to be potentially phenomenally original, but AU-58?? I would love to review that coin in-hand!
