Designs for the 2027 Working Dogs Commemorative Coin Program Revealed

Representatives from the United States Mint (Mint), America’s VetDogs, and the Guide Dog Foundation joined together today to unveil the designs for the 2027 Working Dogs Commemorative Coin Program during a ceremony at the White House in Washington, DC. The designs— emblematic of the vast contributions that working dogs make in society to include the range of services that these dogs provide in detection, military service, therapy, and assistance—will be featured on a $5 gold coin, a $1 silver coin, and a half dollar clad coin, as authorized by Public Law 118-109, to support the mission of America’s VetDogs.

    Those renderings look great w/o all the designer/engraver initials the Mint will put on the final product.

    Love this so much! The only way to improve it (and excuse me for my blasphemy) is to change the motto to read "In Dog We Trust". Just this once. heehee

    The problem will be the issue price, which will make the set unaffordable. If that doesn’t work, the mint will limit the mintage to 2,037 sets for the year of issue and auction them to the highest bidder. The mint has become collector hostile.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
