I recently took in this neat Capital Plastics set of half dollars. Upon first glance they appear to be circulated coins. Upon closer inspection the two top halves- Bust and Seated- proved to be circulated Bogus/contemporary counterfeits. I purchased the set as is and really, I like that these two coins are different from what I was expecting.
On a side note, the Seated Liberty appears to be struck on a brass planchet. It probably had a silver wash that wore off with circulation.
I just thought it was a cool little find and one some of us would enjoy.
If you have anything like it- coins or "coins" that appear to be one thing that turned out to be something else I'd like to see it.
