Colorado Innovation Dollar designs under consideration.

Our illustrious Governor has, in his wisdom and majesty, picked the Pueblo Chile as the subject of Colorado's Innovation Dollar for 2028. Here are the designs under consideration.
The Fine Arts Commission is said to prefer number 01. The CCAC is scheduled to make their pick in October.
Chiles?

That's one subject I would never have associated with Colorado.
Yet we prefer Hatch Green Chiles (from NM) in these parts -- lol.
I like the first one as well. I dont get the Chile either yet
there is a recent on where what was depicted was a person who read/wrote children's books
not feeling any of them. CO-05 is my least liked.

Yeah, with all of the wonderful vistas and natural beauty he picks something that New Mexico is known for.
The series theme is innovations. Vistas and natural landscape features do not qualify as subject matter.
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
Odd choice for sure. Nothing in the mining industry? Something to do with skiing? Gotta be something else. Is the chile a unique hybrid developed in CO? Imagine there are thousands of hybrids developed in the US.
I would have thought that this was our greatest innovation, the 419.99 mile marker on I-70 out on the Eastern Plains near Stratton, CO. The stoners kept stealing the 420 sign after Colorado legalized marijuana several years back, so they put this one up instead about 50 feet West of where the 420 was.
The announcement reads like it was written by a lobbying firm.

This innovation is strengthened by reflecting on the culture and history of the generations of Coloradans before us, and the central role of chile in our culture and cuisine. The Pueblo Chile is part of Colorado’s past, present and future innovation and I look forward to the final selection for Colorado’s 2028 American Innovation Coin so that all Americans can see our Pueblo chile up close in pocket change and collector’s books."

Massachusetts gets the telephone and Colorado gets a chile hybrid. Folks in CO will be so proud. Hate to make fun, there will be many “stretches”. Can’t wait to see America Samoa’s contribution. The idea of an innovation dollar could be used as an educational tool, calling attention to when and who. Tying to states (where) was a bad idea. Not the first lately.
Not sure I see a lot of innovation in chilis either.
I thought those were weed at first glance. That may have been more fitting.
But there were so many good choices they could have used!

I would have chosen this image of Nikola Tesla in his Colorado Springs laboratory, circa 1899-1900.
Good idea. Or his electrification of Telluride and one of the big mines there. Groundbreaking (no pun intended) work in the field!

I understand the design should represent something innovative, but the scenery in Colorado is absolutely gorgeous. My recommendation, which they did not accept, was to show scenic trees. After all, the recent state unofficial motto is:
“The State where the trees are high, and the people are even higher!”

My state Virginia, would get the first AI data center. There would be so much anger brought out by that design.
The cannabis plant for medicine would have been a winner.
Only if they had crossbred that Pueblo Chile with the world-famous Denver Doobie!

I was thinking of the Hoover Dam, but apparently the Colorado River runs into Arizona and that is where the dam is.
