I used to do the Civil War era quarter-eagles. At least when I did them, some of those dates were downright rare and never on the market from both the Philly and SF mints in AU and higher. Have not checked the pops (though we all know the top end includes lots of duplicates due to crackout regrades). Should do that again sometime.

1864 and 1865 are crazy rare. The 1866 and 1867 are tough too in all grades.
I know the San Francisco issues are often rare in BU.
My 2 cent pieces are all MS64RB. I find that grade to be abundant, full of eye appeal, easy on the wallet and full of luster. An easy grade for that beautiful red/brown wood grain copper look.

Congratulations. That is an awesome coin. The coin was added to my collection in 2010 from Heritage with the following lot description: Rich violet, blue-gray, and medium-gray shadings are found on most of each side, with the lightest colors where the high points are worn. Solid eye appeal for this elusive Civil War-era Seated dollar issue. PCGS has graded 88 coins finer (8/10).
I hope you enjoy your dollar as much as I did.

This gold $1 and the 1861-D $5 are amongst the most popular US gold coins. I wish I had gotten into gold 20 years ago to have a shot at owning one of these! Great coin. I think the planchet flaw is cool!

I really like the lighter devices and dark fields. Natural, no marks to speak of. A perfect cameo XF! Few look this nice!
Strong luster on the 1859-S $1 and nice strike. Looks a point or so higher. Very Rare in BU!
