The card I had given them expired by the time they graded the coins. They requested an updated card, I refused, and sent a check instead. They shipped the coins back to me about 3 or 4 months ago and they have still never cashed the check.
I sent coins to SEGS 2 years ago. Have not got them back. Called them, called the BBB, called the police, called the Federal trade commission, called lawyers and nothing. It's not a civil matter, I found it could be embezzlement. Anyone have any suggestions?

You could always go camp out at the UPS store in N.J. and wait for them to come pick up coins from their UPS box.

If you can find a friend or relative who’s a practicing attorney, I’d see if they’d write a brief demand letter and warning to be sent by certified mail.

About 16 months ago, my coins sat at that UPS store for almost a month before someone from SEGS picked them up! I called that UPS store and spoke with the store manager. He couldn't give out any business information about SEGS but he did say the box is still active and my box (I gave him the tracking number) arrive and was still there waiting for pickup. He also said there were a bunch of other boxes and mail there piling up waiting for pickup.

He was set up at Winter FUN, and a dealer friend last month mentioned he was meeting Larry in Nashville (?), to do some wholesale business.
Larry sold SEGS right around covid, the current outfit appears to be a front to give dubious grades to problem inventory auctioned off by "Key Date Coins". Current owner of KDC and his wife did fed time after pleading guilty to mortgage fraud, racketeering, wire fraud etc.

Larry Briggs, reminds me of the old pre-Internet days of getting LBRC price lists in the mail, and reading every flippin’ word. I still have a nice VG 1808/7 half cent with the late-state cud in a Briggs paper flip from back in the day. The internet has made so many things easier, but I miss the old days of getting price lists (especially the old CVM early copper price lists!!) in the mail. I still have a box full of them, so may sweet early copper coins, all raw.
I always thought Briggs was a top-notch dealer, always had interesting inventory.
Other passions include golf, Moto Guzzi motorcycles, and Euro motorcycles in general.

Apparently, SEGS grading wasn't one of the better grading services. It went down hill really fast after Larry sold it. They had my coins for seven months!!! I'm lucky I got them back, after threatening legal action! The only good thing?.... I like these beefy SEGS slabs.

I've been helping Larry with shows for the last year or so. We just got back from Dublin OH for the CONA show. If you've visited his table in the last 18 months, you've probably seen me behind his table - desperately trying to keep him organized! He's physically so-so, always sore, but pushes himself through. (He's tougher than fish flavored ice cream!) The true numismatics keep him going, die marriages, varieties, how common or scarce a coin is, etc. I think many of his ailments and pains fade away when he is behind his table talking about or looking at coins. He truly enjoys seeing many of you who have known him for years. He is still a long talker, youre going to hear a story or two, but does have some good ones, and we all don't mind hearing them again. He stays current, actively buys, sells. This market is keeping him/us very busy. We still do shows mostly in the SE quadrant of the country: Dalton, Chattanooga, PAN, ANA, FUN, Central States, Louisville, Galatin, Cincinnati, Indiana State, Fredericksburg. I hope we can keep doing the shows, but he is aware that he is limited physically. I hope to keep up with him (he does a lot for 77 years old) and help make the shows possible or easier for him- but he is aware it may not be a long term thing.
If you're at a show he is attending, stop and say hi, give him a good ribbing, share a story, etc, he likes to see familiar faces.

Briggs is still alive, lol. You can find him at any major mid-west coin show. Excellent dealer, he was an editor on the latest cherry picker guide.
As others have said, he sold SEGS around 6 years ago, he has no affiliation with the current owners or business.

25 years ago, Larry Briggs had SEGS certify 200 Sac Dollar experimental rinses for me.
I sold out.
Then I purchased 1,800 more.
The U.S Mint finally acknowledged them.
PCGS and NGC weren’t sure at that time what they were. Subsequently both PCGS and NGC certified them.
This whole event was covered by CoinWorld, Numismatic News and other outlets.
I found Larry to be very professional, hard working, extremely knowledgeable and ahead of his time.
