Just received info on upcoming 2026 Libertads availability.
I have been informed that the 2026 Silver Libertad Kilo BU is scheduled to be released in early Sept.
The 2026 Silver Libertad Kilo BU will have a limited worldwide mintage of only 300 pieces.
And there is more good news. We can also expect the following coins to become available in late September: • 2026 Gold Libertad BU • 2026 Gold Libertad Reverse Proof (RP) • 2026 Silver Libertad BU.

As far as I’m concerned, the Bank of Mexico ruined the Libertad market last year.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it collapses.
Agreed, and to what purpose? Were those coins distributed to the highest bidder or just how did they get out? I used to collect each and every year of proof and unc. silver in the onza to kilo size but refused to surrender to the hype of those coins and get all of them. The one onza was completely ridiculous and the worst example.
That was IMHO the Mexican version of what the US Mint has been doing of late....

Recent eBay sales for silver Libertads show that the lowest that a one-troy-oz silver Libertad can be bought for is about $80.
This is the case for any date, including the old design and the new design. So it would appear that (for now) the market for "ordinary" Libertads is doing quite well.

what did they do? I fell off from paying attention to annual libertad releases
They only released a few hundred pieces to a few dealers, hence the prices are in the high hundreds or thousands of dollars for any 2025 issue. It appears as though 2026 will be a replay.
If you are collecting annual releases, how can you continue at those prices?
Hence there will be holes in collections, and collectors will lose interest.

tbh it always kind of felt like banco did this to an extent every year and was def a reason I tapered my interest in the series
still have a number of 2 oz and 5 oz varieties and nice to see them appreciate since I picked em up, but agreed that limiting them to such an extent and making them accessible only through obnoxious dealer markups is a great way to stifle interest & active collecting in the series
Not the exact same criticism, but in the ballpark... I lost my interest in collecting modern mint issues when the RCM started putting coins in sets such that it was necessary to buy coins you didn't want, in order to get the one specific coin you did.
True enough, but I think his point may have been in regards to the scarcer proof pieces, rev. proof pieces, etc.The price of 2025 onzas is pretty muck well above 6-8,000 USD!
