Massively overpriced compared to every other modern dollar/con roll, throwing in a few privy mark coins to inflate sales knowing most will be left empty handed with coins that will trade for little over face... Yeah it's pretty much what I would expect and a very predictable marketing strategy for this coin.

Your hatred of the subject of the coin has clearly clouded your thinking. Sad. These are priced at the exact same price as ALL other dollar coins offered by the US Mint, the Native American Dollars and the Innovation Dollars.

Let’s go!!! There has to be at least a few privy coins in here lol!

what're ya waiting for? open em up!

genuinely very curious what you discover through this experiment; privies per bag/roll, how many 0 privy bags/rolls, etc

    my guess is 3 privies across all 16 bags/rolls ... maybe 2

$155 to get a $100 bag shipped to your house hardly strikes me as excessive.

Unfortunately, no one can be objective or neutral about this particular offering. But at least the thread is still open.

The premium for the roll seems to be especially absurd; however, others are suggesting that I am wrong and that this is the norm for the Mint now a days. I'm surprised they have sales for any dollar coins in rolls at $2.44/coin. The bag price seems high but is not as egregious especially when accounting for shipping weight.

No, it IS **all **about the privies. As we can see from the Advance Releases, these are not grading that well given that they are circulation strikes that are not receiving any special handling.

They are supposed to be available at banks at face value for those who want them. So, other than die hards who are will to pay for Mint packaging, the only reason to be interested in paying the premium the Mint is charging for these, when there are almost 9 million being made available for sale out of an unlimited mintage, is indeed the hunt for one of the 250K privies. Which is precisely why I thought there would be very little interest, before learning about the privies. Period.

Gotta hand it to Hollis though. The privies were a brilliant way to gin up a little excitement and move these out the door at the premiums they are charging.

Native American $1 Coin 2026 Rolls and Bags sold for $154.50 a bag earlier this year.

Yes, the roll premium is higher. All prices went up in the last year.

Disagree. Many people expressed a desire to buy these before the privies were known. So it is not "all" about the privies for everyone. (It is for me. Lol)

Yes. Of course. Please don't take me literally.

There are always people who will buy anything the Mint offers. At whatever price. But, given that they are supposed to be available at banks for $1 each, they never would have been able to sell anywhere near 8.75 million at the premium they are charging without the privies.

The waiting room today is the privies. The sell out of the bags is the privies. And the eventual sell out of the rolls is the privies.

It won't happen, but, if they announced that the back orders will not contain privies, believe me, many of them would be canceled. Same as what happened with gold Liberty Bells when the buyers learned they would otherwise be keeping them because there was no one to flip them to.

Interesting that he knows what it is all about
for me. I was in for two rolls and a bag before there was any mention of a privy mark. I have been
getting two rolls of all the semiquincentennial (I
think I may finally have that correct 😆) offerings. I was getting a bag to open and share with some non collecting co workers who had an interest.

They are theoretically supposed to be available at banks for face value. The same could be said for the SemiQ quarters and dimes, but most people can't get them and the mint has a quick sell-out of every offering.

Again, no reason to take me literally. I obviously don't know you. At all. The "all" here referred to the long wait in the waiting room, and the eventual sell out of 8.75 million base metal circulating coins with an unlimited mintage that received no special handling at a relatively large premium.

Of course, a small number of fan boys will buy anything at any price. But that would not account for a waiting room, or for 8.75 million of anything with an unlimited mintage selling for 1.5x to 2.5x of face value.

You are always free to do you. But you would have been burning $54.50 plus shipping by buying a bag to open and hand out as gifts, given that they will be available at banks for $1 each, in the exact same condition.

All of the SemiQ base metal issues have had waiting rooms.

You also mention "unlimited mintage" but as a practical matter the mintage is limited, be it by production capacity or the calendar year.

At one point after I ordered mine I went back to try for a bag again and the rolls showed not available at that point and time.

I went back again a few minutes later ago and was seeing if bags were up and noticed the rolls showed me were up. Wasn’t trying to to say anything untrue.

Sure, if you think the product limits of the quarters and dimes are comparable to the dollars. But they aren't, so whatever point you are trying to make is irrelevant to this.

It is not burning $54.50. Everyone does not have access to new rolled coins. I have yet to see anything, but new nickels nine months in. And btw sometimes it's not just that dollars and cents.

According to the numbers posted by the US Mint they have upped the total mintage for these to 16.4 million. The privy should hold high value by comparison.

As "a practical matter," they will be making tens of millions of these, if they are really going to be distributing them to banks. "Practically speaking," that is no limit at all for a coin that is not going to actually circulate.

Yes, nothing is infinite. That doesn't mean it's not "practically" unlimited, when you are talking about circulating coin mintages in the hundreds of millions or billions.

I don't appreciate the "fan boy" comment, as you say you don't know me. I'm not sure why you always have to go there. For me I would have made the same purchase decision regardless of who was on the coin. It is a historic year, and that has driven my decisions.

Sorry. Wasn't meant to be a personal insult. More of a general comment about anyone who loves anything so much that they will acquire it regardless of price or value.

And, it had nothing to do with this specific coin. It applies to any number of things the Mint makes every year. If you'll notice, I have intentionally stayed far, far away from any of the threads that have gotten political around this particular item. Not sure why you would take offense, but none was intended.

My point is entirely relevant. You keep saying that since they will be available at face value then it makes no sense to pay a premium apart from the privy potential.

It's the exact same thing as the quarters, for example. Supposed to be available at the banks but not in reality.

I would add a couple of rolls, if I had more confidence that the privys will also show up in the backorder rolls. It is not all about the privys, but it is a consideration. I already have backorder bags that I'm doubtful about.

Period.

Disagree. Many people expressed a desire to buy these before the privies were known. So it is not "all" about the privies for everyone. (It is for me. Lol)

Interesting that he knows what it is all about for me. I was in for two rolls and a bag before there was any mention of a privy mark. I have been getting two rolls of all the semiquincentennial (I think I may finally have that correct) offerings. I was getting a bag to open and share with some non collecting co workers who had an interest.

Again, no reason to take me literally. I obviously don't know you. At all. The "all" here referred to the long wait in the waiting room, and the eventual sell out of 8.75 million base metal circulating coins that received no special handling at a relatively large premium.

Of course, a small number of fan boys will buy anything at any price. But that would not account for a waiting room, or for 8.75 million of anything with an unlimited mintage selling for 1.5x to 2.5x of face value.

Not sure why you would take offense, but none was intended.

He took offense because it was offensive. Even I was offended for him. Don't be so sloppy with your assertions.

Then I stand corrected. I never remember seeing dollar rolls selling for that. Is this a recent change?

    It changed early this year.

That's crazy. What is the resale market for the other coins? How are you expected to ever break close to even?

There is still a waiting room, be it one minute. Does anyone remember this being the case so far into the day? Is it due to the higher number of these available than forvthe usual waiting room items?

They are theoretically supposed to be available at banks for face value. The same could be said for the SemiQ quarters and dimes, but most people can't get them and the mint has a quick sell-out of every offering.

Sure, if you think the product limits of the quarters and dimes are comparable to the dollars. But they aren't, so whatever point your are trying to make is irrelevant to this.

My point is entirely relevant. You keep saying that since they will be available at face value then it makes no sense to pay a premium apart from the privy potential.

It's the exact same thing as the quarters, for example. Supposed to be available at the banks but not in reality.

You do know how this is going to go, don't you? 😀

Yes. Endless bloviating and unfounded assertions and promises that will turn out to be mostly or entirely false.

But I am just biding my time until my bag of privy dollars gets here. 🤑

It's too bad the guy who created the presidential errors isn't still at the mint. He could have really juiced these.

I can’t envision spending money on moderns if the supply and demand curve doesn’t support the issue price as you could get a better price in the aftermarket. Why pay a large premium to be the initial buyer?

@rockshow13 What is your source that they are not going to be released into circulation. The last I saw on the website, the USM stated they would be. @jmlanzaf posted a link earlier that explained all about the discovery coin. There is supposed to be a one ounce gold coin to be released at some point this year.

My source was clearly erroneous AI from Gemini. I have since found out that a new announcement was made today? on the US Mint site. They are and have been being evasive with clarity. They want and intended for us to be befuddled to increase sales, I believe, and Now they are changing their tune which is rather irritating. My apologies for repeating that statement that is not true.

How are they now changing their tune? They’ve never said these would not be released into circulation.

Different announcements contained differing wording that was ambiguous or unclear, and now instead of using unclear words, they are using text that is more clear in regards to this subject. DYOR, and u will see what I mean. I have pages of convo with AI regarding this subject, that I don't have time to copy and paste all of it here. Firstly, they had initially said MAY be released into circulation, and now I am reading they made announcement that it WILL indeed be put into circulation, and also the mintage production amount has changed. Like someone said earlier Advertising 101 .... I forgot not to be a trusting consumer.

    EDIT: fixed typos.

At one point after I ordered mine I went back to try for a bag again and the rolls showed not available at that point and time.

I went back again a few minutes later ago and was seeing if bags were up and noticed the rolls showed me were up. Wasn’t trying to to say anything untrue.

It was odd, too, that the bags ATS numbers kept going up and than down and up and then down. Glitches....that's a lot of orders in a short period of time.
