🏈 2026 NFL Pick'em Contest 🏈

galaxy27galaxy27 Posts: 10,513 ✭✭✭✭✭
edited September 8, 2026 3:09PM in Sports Talk

It's that time again. We're a mere 10 days away from the first game of the NFL season between the Pats & Hawks. From now until kickoff, let's get a show of hands. Who's ready to rumble? Kindly toss your hat into the ring via a post confirming your participation. I made a unilateral decision this year: The only barrier to entry is a single post anywhere on this forum in 2026. If you're unable to leap unaided over that horizontal bar placed at a very low height, then that essentially means the only time you come up for air is when money is involved. That's not going to be allowed this year.

bgr & I are putting up 100$ apiece, so the winner will stick two benjamins in his pocket. My plan is to run the show for the first half of the season, then I'm going to pass the baton over to perkdog. I will post each week's schedule along with up-to-date standings. The rules are quite simple: Make sure you get your selections in before the first game of the week. Pick each game straight up, not against the line. Every game is worth a point. At the end of week 18, the individual with the highest total is the champ.

Good luck to all!

Count me in please. It would be a fun pleasure to see how many I can get right this season. I'm usually wrong, so no threat to you guys. Heh heh. ;)

    Okay I’ll play.
Galaxy and bgr….. if a miracle happens and I win give the prize money to your favorite charity or some hard working waitress or waiter…. just do something nice with it and thanks that’s very generous of both of you.

Thanks once again for running this. I hope to defend my poor record title from last year once again. Think I was last or next to last last season.

Same here. After I win the contest by a dozen points or more, send the contribution to the March of Dimes, my favorite charity. Thank you!

As i stated in another thread when bgr brought this up I'm due to put some work in so I'll take care of the standings from week to week for the first half of the season, if it goes well I'll reevaluate and consider doing it for the whole season

Thanks @galaxy27 and @bgr for generously putting up prize money like that

If I pull this off and finish in first any organization that helps kids is where I want my winnings to go!

Appreciate the heads up @galaxy27, and if I do manage to get lucky and win, I want my prize to go to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF). πŸ‘

I'm going to use artificial intelligence by just copying stevek's picks!

My charity this year is Second Harvest Heartland. After I had to shut all my daycare centers down I had some free time and did some volunteering with them this summer along with my kids. Great organization.

thanks brother. he was dealt a terrible hand in life. but the collateral damage was arguably just as bad -- my mother's tear ducts still empty on his birthday, and it has been almost a half century. one of the worst things that can happen to any parent is outliving your offspring.

the very good news is that great strides have been made over the decades where CF is concerned. Boomer Esiason's son has it and is still going strong to this day, which is wonderful. if memory serves, he was diagnosed in the early '90s.

looking forward to the fun πŸ€™

    I'm in for $100

If I win the contest, in which I am the heavy favorite, then my $100 goes to the March of Dimes. If I don't win, which is very unlikely, then it goes to the winner's charity. 😊

Unofficial Week 1 check-in - 14 of 16 in the books. @perkdog has the official book, so treat this as a placeholder until he posts.

    bgr 11-3
    Darin 10-4
    ElMagoStrikeZone 10-4
    perkdog 9-5
    stevek 9-5
    Saint Ezzard 9-5
    Canes8387899101 9-5
    galaxy27 7-7
    BLUEJAYWAY 5-9

@LandrysFedora - I didn't see picks from you, holler if I missed them somewhere.

Two games where the whole room went down together. Every one of us took the Rams (49ers 27-7 in Australia) and every one of us took the Chargers (Cardinals 26-14). Nine for nine on both. If anybody wants my picks going forward, they're available and clearly worth exactly what you'd pay for them.

    A few other notes:

Bears 59, Panthers 37. Fifty-nine points. In week one.

Minnesota hung 22 in the fourth to bury Green Bay. I live here, so I know better than to trust it, but I'll take the point.

And so much for my plan to just copy stevek's card.

Left to play: Cowboys-Giants tonight, Broncos-Chiefs tomorrow. Darin and ElMago have the same two games as me, so those two can't catch me this week no matter what happens. stevek is the only one still live - he needs the Giants and the Broncos, I need Dallas and KC.

When the Giants beat the Cowboys by two TD’s and stevek hasn’t made any jokes yet it might be time to get worried. And his Eagles won.

Sorry… one TD and a two point conversion.
