Now THAT is interesting!! Did somebody swoop in and scoop the remainder, or did the mint pull a Flowing Hair and shut things off early??

The last I saw was about 3400 remaining. Maybe the Mint shut it down for now to watch gold prices. With the end of week drop in gold, maybe they don’t want to deal with order cancellations if they have to do a few tiers of prices drops next week?

super fascinating - exciting to wake up to a 0 ats

is my research correct that I - as a lowly individual collector - cannot get my set graded fdoi without flying to Pittsburgh today?

Saw a comment elsewhere that a gentleman had some in his cart at 4:30 am EST today with over 3.000 ATS, and when he went back at 7:30 they were sold out.

I'm guessing they pulled them and they will show up at a later date.
That said, there was some buying of the Enhanced Unc Silver Eagle -- 164 popped up and they were gone very quickly (I think less than a minute).

does this denote theyll make more avail on wed, or is this a holdover from backorder status?

BTW, thanks for the great posts in response to my earlier post about gold prices. Most appreciated.

With what the BOM 4 silver medals are bringing, the price of the set is getting closer to spot gold.

One possible explanation is that they minted quite a few less than the max 15k and they exhausted the available supply. This is starting to remind me of 2024 FH Gold. Hopefully everyone that wanted one got one. It would be a huge bonus if they were short struck so to speak.

If that's the case, will they make more?

Mint could have pulled remaining stock or, simply cut the mintage like they did with the Flowing Hair gold coins.

They’re probably pulled. Backorder for what remained was 9/2. I don’t think anyone plunked down close to $20,000,000 to pick up the rest of them. If they don’t return by 9/24, BOM 5 will sellout much quicker.

I have the BOM 5 sale date off. I'll be going to the DC Store to see them. I'll post good pics before noon so you guys can see what they actually look like before they go on sale.

I noticed that they put the BOM 4 in the case before noon. They were happy to let me look at it (as you know from my pics).

They had BOM 5 on display in Philly mint shop (just obverse). No pictures allowed in the mint. It looked great. Different finish than the 2009 HR - more of the matte finish that the BOM series has.

This might turn out to be an unseen winner after all. Wouldn’t that be nice? 😉 And even if they do mint 15,000 I’m still happy with my purchase. It’s a really beautiful set in my opinion.

    Would be very nice!

Didn't end up having my son get one. Perhaps missed opportunity. Of course, zero expected this scenario.

They are pulled. No one swept in on late Friday night or early Saturday morning to make a big buy. They will be back. I think the mint would rather bring them back later than take a bunch of backorders.
A second possibility is quality issues, but this is also doubtful due to the timing of the pull.

IF they have cut off the mintage. What is the best approximate count at this time, assuming all at the shops and the WFOM are sold?

Maybe 1st Strike tho, if sealed in box and sent in on time? Is that the designation available to us "gen pop" collectors?

I agree with @tahbb143 regarding ultimate mintage if this was cut off similar to the 2024 FH gold. If I recall correctly the 2024 FH gold settled in around 9,900 or 10,000 pieces and this looks to have sold about 11,500 or 11,600 pieces before ats=0 showed up with currently unavailable.

I just hope this doesn't influence the mintage decision for BOM5. If they start with a mintage in the 10-11,000 range, and there is increased demand because of this. I don't want to miss out, if they did/do cut back on BOM4/BOM5.

BOM5 is set at 15,000 for now, with no ATS numbers yet.

Personally, I think it will be offered up again in order to keep US Mint patrons on their heels.
Juice it up for the BOM 5 etc..

Right, but BOM4 was also set at 15,000, if something did indeed change.

If they were going to be coming back some date in the future, wouldn't the mint be taking "backorders"?? Isn't that what backorder status is for - i.e. "we don't have any now, but we plan to make more in the future".

    I think they are done.

I think that the obverse is unattractive, but, of course the original is same.

The reverse is awesome, just like the origjnal. I have a 1794 & 95 0.50. It's fun putting them next to the FH to see how they compare (as per the images that I posted earlier in this thread).

Honestly, none. Maybe it's a glitch. Maybe a large dealer did come in and grab them.

I can't imagine the Mint actually made them available for sale and then just randomly pulled them.

My wife really liked the design. She loves gold, & thinks its going up. We were planning on increasing our Au holdings anyway. So, we took a $20M position in these. Gotta keep the wife happy. A bit above spot, but at least they look nice. At least we got free shipping. Perhaps will make a necklace out of a few of them.

    I bought 9...

With all due respect, you are making my point. Yesterday, you only bought one, and weren't sure you even wanted to keep it.

Now you are regretting not getting another one. And, you'll swing back again if it's a web glitch, and 3K make their way back to ATS.

You, and you are absolutely not alone here, really only want what you can't have.
