Thoughts on Julio Rodriguez?

Kind of odd that this is his 5th year and his rookie year has still been his best season. It’s not like he’s been a bad player but his batting avg. and OBP have gone down every year since his rookie season. After his rookie year it looked like he would be an MVP candidate every year but that just hasn’t happened.
Is he still one of the best outfielders in the game? Are his best years still ahead of him or behind him. He’s only 25 so a lot of baseball ahead of him.

Julio is wealthy. He doesn't give a chit about taking extra batting practice, fielding practice, etc. He's got a stock and investment portfolio to concentrate on. Hard decisions he needs to focus on such as the best yacht to buy, etc.
I don’t know anything about him personally such as his work habits etc. but to your point a few games ago he caught a fly ball in center field and threw the ball in the stands thinking it was the 3rd out. It was the 2nd out and I believe a run scored. That shows his head was somewhere else instead of on the ballgame as that should never happen.
These are Griffey’s stats through his first 5 years compared to Julio’s first 5 minus the rest of this year. There is only 1 plate appearance difference.

His head was in the middle of a 22-0 pasting by the Brewers.
He had 32 HRs last year, just like most guys that are over hyped to early he has settled into being a basic ballplayer, nothing great and not worth the stupid contract he got

No problem. Just raise the ballpark hot dog and beer prices five or ten dollars each, to pay for these ridiculously high contracts they hand to players who have yet to play a MLB game. 😛
You’re probably right his second season was better but it’s still odd that his batting average and OBP have gone down every year since he was a rookie.
The base of the contract is 120 and the Mariners have an 8 to 10 mil extension option and all the escalators etc. It might be the most complicated extension but if he lives up to it it will be a good deal for the team given how revenue keeps exploding with tv deals
