I'm not really into the plated coin thing. I have a few older gold plated coins acquired over the years but they are just novelty items sitting in a box. I just received this holographic Alaska quarter as a freebie with an eBay coin purchase. I must say with the hologram that it is a well executed plating job. I have it on my dresser and as I walk past, the colors just light up and pop. I actually enjoy this one. My cellphone takes crappy pics, but you can see what I am talking about.

The plated state quarters (or any other coin) are not for me. But, if you like it, and you collect what you like, then I see no issues with it.
Found several of these while CRH for W quarters. I kept every one of them. I agree they are very cool.

I find it amazing that someone can take an average MS64 quarter and make it look that nice for not much money. Of course numismatically, it is only worth 25 cents. But it sure is purdy.
