The Missouri Numismatic Society holds their annual convention, in the summer, at the St. Charles Convention Center. It is a very fine convention center with the Embassy Suites Hotel connected to it and has plenty of free parking.
I left home at daybreak on Wednesday morning. After stopping at several rest areas, stopping for gas and getting slowed for a wreck I arrived in the Saint Louis area a little after noon.
I went to Scotsman Coin and Jewelry shop. I had some sterling flatware and some jewelry that I had received in an inheritance to sell. They were very nice and after over an hour I received a very fair offer.
I then drove a short distance to my hotel to check in. I went to Cracker Barrel for dinner.
Thursday morning after a very meager breakfast at the hotel I drove to the convention center. I got my badge and waited for the 10 AM opening. The crowd was a little less than normal for this show. It was raining so that probably accounted for the lower attendance.
I saw 3 1839 -C $2.5 gold grading from NGC 53 to 58 in one case. I have never seen that before. I had a long chat with Lyn Knight. We talked about the good old days. I picked up two rolls of Forever postage stamps for $39 each. The concession stand had hamburgers for $10 and chicken tenders for $10.50.
I looked at a very nice 1838-O Dime in PCGS AU 58 at West Coast Coins. I have a real nice 1837 to cover the type. I was tempted but I really did not need the coin. They had the best selection of coins by far at the show. After a couple of hours, I had not found anything that I needed so I left. I went to lunch at a Chinese restaurant. In the evening I had dinner at the Bandana BBQ. It was not good.
Friday morning, I had breakfast, at a restaurant, with two of my cousins. After that I drove two hours to visit with two more of my cousins on their farm. I had a very good time with my visits. It was back to Cracker Barrel for dinner.
After breakfast at the hotel, I started for home. I arrived home in late afternoon.

My experience mirrored yours in terms of the show. Slower than usual, and more empty tables that I remember seeing in St. Charles before. And I agree that West Coast Coins had the best selection at the show. I spent more time at their table looking at coins than anywhere else. I made 2 purchases at the show, and the larger one was from them.
Both posted reports reflect a slow show. This surprises me, since I made the majority of my numismatic and bullion purchases from this show, when I lived in STL.

The MNS show was the same weekend as the BRNA show. Both are reginal shows that are fairly close to each other. They both hurt each other in number of dealers present and in attendance.
West Coast Coins always has nice stuff.

Not bad,. you found more food and family than coins for which you traveled so far.
still you had an experience out of the house..
MNS used to be a tremendous show but I have been unable to make the long trip over the past many years.
