No release date yet, but looks like it's happening. Mint says they'll be released into circulation and available to purchase in rolls and bags. Looking like a Philadelphia only minting. Another Semiquincentennial instant sellout, I suppose...

I wonder if there will be any edge-lettering errors. These have a smooth edge but there are lettered edge dollar coins being produced simultaneously.
There is no indication that there will be any proof coins. The matte finish of the pictured example is nice but will presumably not exist on production coins.
Also no word on mintage.
Poor dollar coin has had quite a bad run post-1935. Why not continue with another ugly iteration.

Maybe next step is to eliminate the paper one dollar bill. Empty the storage vaults and flood commerce with all those other goldibucks. Send them to people for income tax returns.

The general public doesn't usually ask for any dollar coins. The people asking for these at banks will specifically be looking for them.
I doubt there will be any left over to fill Fed or bank vaults.
The majority of responses in similar threads suggests otherwise.
I would have made the numbers incused rather than raised, but nobody asked my opinion.
The haters are more vocal and more determined to share their opinion. Those who like the coin will quietly buy them by the millions, assuming the mintage can accommodate the demand.
Has there ever been any other threads here, on official US Mint releases, shut down because of how divisive this particular Mint issue is? Or would this be the first of its kind here on these forums of an official release not being allowed to be discussed?
Would/will PCGS even grade this coin?

Another waste of taxpayer money. None of these modern one dollar coins between SBA’s, Sacagawea’s, and Presidential circulate.
If the BEP stops printing the dollar bill, the dollar coins will circulate.

Agree that incuse would be better. Actually, the 250 on the shield isn't really necessary since this coin has a dual date of "1776-2026".

Actually, they automatically make money on them as soon as they are monetized due to the seigniorage. If they made a couple trillion of them, they could balance the budget without them ever leaving the vault.

I'm referring to ANY thread with THIS particular subject matter - threads such as this seem to automatically get shut down just because of the subject matter.
I was curious if any other threads are automatically shut down, specifically related to the subject matter, especially considering this is going to be an official US Mint release of a coin with a, lets just say, divisive effigy who would be depicted on the currency being discussed.
There are many effigies or portraits placed on coins that generate debate on the worthiness of the effigy or portrait of the person. But, they don't automatically get shut down like these particular subject threads do on what seems like a regular basis just because of the subject effigies name.

Well, as fast as threads like this subject get shut down, just for mention of a name...I only asked because I wondered, that if they are so quick to shutdown a thread just because of the subject matter of the person being discussed, would that equate to a business decision to not grade a coin with the subjects name on the coin??
Just a random thought if the two would be connected? Or is one just simple banter online that generates intense debating and the other is strictly a business decision. Some businesses, even at the loss of potential revenue, will not engage with certain subjects.

I don't see why this topic is at all divisive. You must be projecting or expressing defensiveness or guilt. We're just talking about a US coin. Why would there be anything divisive about it? It's just a historical fact.

You obviously do not understand what happened to dollars in 2011, new dollar coins were no longer released into circulation. They are sold by the Mint to collectors and the rest go to ONLY the Federal Reserve vaults, none to bank vaults. The only coins that a bank could get would be older circulated coins.
The Trump coin is no different, it is not planned for general circulation. It will be sold through the mint in rolls and bags and anything else will go to the vaults. As one who voted for Trump I will not be buying any, as I never buy dollar coins. I will pick up a few uncut sheet of 16 Trump signed Benjamins when they become available. I always keep a fair amount of cash on hand.
Your reading skills must be at the level of our current high school graduates, as I have explained in numerous posts that NO dollar coin has gone out into circulation since 2011. They are all sold through the Mint website in rolls and bags and the rest go to the vaults. But they are minted and stored in the Fed vaults for seigniorage exactly as stated.
The Trump coins, Native American 2026 coin, and AI coins for 2026 are no different.
What part about that confuses you? Or can you not comprehend this concept? Perhaps you need to read more.
In addition to the folks who collect small dollars, there will be a fair amount of fans of the honoree buying them and some detractors who will buy them for defacement purposes. I expect this to be the most popular small dollar issue.

I know what’s being stored in vaults, and I also know where all of our taxpayer money is going. Perhaps our money would be better spent by not starting unnecessary wars, tearing down the White House, destroying the Reflecting Pool, etc.
