Limited Edition Ruby Red PCGS Boxes are apparently gone
Just received my submission, received by PCGS on April 10th, this week. I got the traditional black box instead of the ruby red box. It was 4 coins, not a bulk submission. By the terms and conditions, my submission was eligible for the ruby box.
So, if you got the ruby box, congratulations they went fast!

This is on the PCGS website.
I didn’t get one either.
How could they have underestimated the demand so much? They must know their average submission volume and ordered appropriately. Unless…. No!
😢
No. It's a leap to assume they underestimated anything. They never promised everyone would get a box.
In fact, they very accurately estimated, by clearly stating "while supplies last." They made no commitment to provide them through September 30th.
Seems they knew they'd run out far before then. Because, if that was not the case, they could also have easily stocked and continued to restock in order to meet demand. After all, they never run out of slabs, no matter how high their submission volume is.
They are going for $40+ on eBay. Who'd have thunk.
Well I think the Ruby black boxes are just perfect

The PCGS website seems pretty clear to me:
1) Submissions received between July 1, 2026, and September 30, 2026. Your submission was received April 10, according to you. So, right there you did not qualify to get one.
2) While supplies last...speaks for itself.
Buy the coin, not the box.

As for #1 above, I can confirm it's not always based on submission date because I received several red boxes for orders submitted in May that I received back in July.
I got 4 red boxes with submissions that where delivered at csns, and I just got them back last week

Apparently PCGS still has some?

Sent 3 submissions logged in as received 5/20, 2 of which were completed 7/13 and the other 7/17. All three returned in red 40th anniversary red boxes. Could be the completion date is determining factor and not the submission date.
Not if the supply didn't last

Personally, I prefer the blue ones. I have blue PCGS boxes for my US coins, and gray NGC boxes for my foreigns and ancients.

I was wondering about that. I received my order last week from a submission in late April. I opened it to the ruby red PCGS box. I like!
I rec'd an order today via Fedex. I rec'd a Red box. My order shipped Tuesday. They still have some apparently. My order was a one coin, variety attribution. Go figure.
I received a coin back from out host yesterday. It was in the Red box.
I like the Red color.
Well, i was going to send a few in to get the Ruby Red Box, but...oh, well.
Can @pcgs_social verify the Ruby Red Boxes are exhausted?
