At first glance it’s a nice set. The box was a bit shoddy, as it doesn’t meet together perfectly. It’s a little off….crooked when closed, but still slides into the outer sleeve.
Why doesn't the 1916 STQ Best of the Mint Gold Coin have the "W" mint mark while the 1916 Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar are pictured on the mint's website as having the mint mark?

Read the specs. Only one of them indicates the presence of an actual mint mark.
This is not that unusual from any of the Mints. There are San Fran silver eagles without mint marks also.

I prefer to have the mint mark on West Point items. I was convinced it was left off in error, I mean the specs for BOM#1 indicate it has a mint mark, but also list privy mark as 'W'. Relying on the specs, it appears BOM#3 will not have a mint mark as well, although the images clearly show it. Maybe the fact that the Mercury dime actually has the mint mark was in error lol.

Although I wish it had a mint mark, I think they did it to match the original 1916 SLQ, which was only produced in Philadelphia with no mint mark.
striking anomalies happen on probably every issue. have on the the issues i've seen. a shiny bit on the rim can happen. buy a 70 from someone and it could have the same issue. it is "as struck" similar to fs/not fs.

Just looks like how the light is reflecting off it to me. Check out above TED in UNITED on the other coin posted after yours. Looks similar to me.
