Actually, it's quite ironic. All me gutter profits went into SGOV and those have for the past several months been cashing out for physical gold. Woulda been better off holding the T-bills but at the end of the day I think I'm probably still #Winning™. Perhaps they will one day classify me as Chinese. THKS!

Shows how uniformed you actually are. When China, one of the largest foreign buyers of US debt, reduces its purchases of that debt by 45% in just five years, those that are informed are asking what will this do the purchasing power of their dollar when the US has to buy even more of its own debt with money borrowed from its own trust funds and accounts, primarily Social Security and federal employee retirement funds. This US intergovernment debt (money the US owes itself) is at roughly 20%, but will grow as the US loses it's foreign buyers of US debt. The informed are also looking at the fact that foreign central banks are increasing their purchases of gold as they decrease their holding of US debt. They are fully aware of what this does to the price of gold as demonstrated by central bank hoarding in the recent past. Central bank purchasing of gold is what has driven gold price to great gains.

Focusing on the forest instead of only the tree in front will greatly improve your vision.

thanks, confirms exacty what I posted about China's reduction in US debt purchases.

And now for the rest of the rest of the story.

"Foreign governments' share of US Treasury holdings has fallen to 13%, the lowest in 30 years"

For over a decade you and I have been on opposite sides of the reduction of foreign purchases of US debt and its subsequent affect on the dollars and the American spenders of that dollar. Ten years later the decline continues, the dollar continues to buy less for its American users and you continue to see "no problem." Likely you won't actually realize the ramifications until the US is forced to purchase the majority of its debt and you become dependent on government handouts as are a growing number of Americans that have experienced this effect.

The problem yiu see is not the problem i see. And yes, over a decade, and the world hasnt ended.

Foreigners continue to buy US debt. They are not running away. And US investors continue to buy more now that rates are higher.

The problem isnt who is or who is not buying, but rather your elected officials....ALL OF THEM.

Every one of my dollars makes 4-5c every year. Yes, each dollar is buying less, but i have more of them. Make your dollars work harder.

Who are you referring to when you say "you"?

Automobiles are my other hobby. I have 14 cars for occasional use. Here is one:

Id rather clip coupons than pay registration fees, insurance premiums, maintanence and storage costs. Certainly not financial efficiency.

And now back to the OP--that you incessantly derail--millions and millions of folk love getting that interest payment deposited every month. Good stuff. Keeps the economy rolling along.

Doesnt it make more sense to pay interest to Americans rather than the Chinese and Russians?

You must be a bond salesman. Go ahead, clip your coupons. I want nothing to do with that.

In case you are not aware, a "hobby" is not necessarily an "investment". It is often stated that cars are a bad investment - you never get back the money that you put into fixing them up. But that is not always the case. Some that I own have appreciated well above what I put into them, although that did take quite a few years.

I wrote nothing about other people. I stated that I have no interest in purchasing bonds or loaning money. I have more important uses for my money than letting someone else use it.

Debt is building up like plaque in the arteries. That will prevent the economy from "rolling along" smoothly and indefinitely.

Thomas Jefferson was not the most financially disciplined person. but he did have this insight:
"Banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; ... the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale".

I wrote here already, I don't really care what other people do. I personally have no interest in your "fixed income" offerings.
I have done reasonably well by investing my own money into my own endeavors, rather than turning it over to someone else (such as yourself).

A loan can be recalled. But that doesn't guarantee that it will be repaid. The counter-party (debtor) might fail to perform on their agreed obligations.

Who are you referring to when you say "you"?

    .

Personally, I have no interest (pun intended) in earning 4%-5% per year by owning debt instruments.

    .

And thats why you drive a 20 year old Saturn.

    .

    Your reasoning is faulty.

Doesnt it make more sense to pay interest to Americans rather than the Chinese and Russians?

    .

You must be a bond salesman. Go ahead, clip your coupons. I want nothing to do with that.

In case you are not aware, a "hobby" is not necessarily an "investment".

Hobby is just a word we use to placate our feelings on oftentimes money losing preoccupations.

I wrote nothing about other people. I stated that I have no interest in purchasing bonds or loaning money.
    .

Then you know you can recall that loan at any time, as you are the fixed income expert.

14 cars!! Wow!!! You must be rich!!

    .

    Mr bond salesman,
I wrote here already, I don't really care what other people do.

You dont even know what im talking about. One can sell a fixed income investment about 1 second, and the issuer has absolutely no say in it.

    PS:
Your fishing "hobby" is a money loser. Such a waste to take a trophy fish and mount it on a plaque on the wall.
By your own logic/advice, you should give it up.

Oh, but they taste so good. Id think youd be all about natural and organic.

    Another one of the 14:

    .

    I prefer mine.....

    .

You wrote about "recalling" a loan. Do you know what you are writing about ?
"Recalling" a loan is not the same thing as selling it to a 3rd party.

Regardless, I am not buying what you are selling, "fixed income" or otherwise.

A person needs to eat, and so there is a need for fishing for that purpose.
My own opinion is that "catch and release" fishing and "trophy" fishing as a total waste of time and resources
(but I know some people enjoy it as a leisure time activity).

I dont target "trophies". Im jjust successful in my endeavors.

    PS:
Are you building a shed, to store your little toy ?
How much does that cost, to maintain and store it ?

    .

Land improvments are assets. The "little toy" allows me to turn man hours into money. Besides, its fun to drive through the woods and pick up rocks and knock down trees.

Storage cost is about $20...for the tarp i throw over it.

Now how about China, Treasuries and gold....got anything to add?

A tarp is perhaps worse than nothing. The build-up of humidity under it will cause excessive rust.

    Anything else ?

Reports indicate that America's "National Debt" is approaching $40 Trillion. Of that, about one fourth (close to $10 trillion) is held by foreign entities.

How much debt of foreign entities is held by America ?

    Interesting read.

In short: the BRIC countries are the biggest SELLERS of US Treasury debt, and the NATO countries are the biggest BUYERS of US Treasury debt.

    Worse case scenario:
If DJT were to piss off NATO by "Taking" Greenland, all the NATO countries would need to do is to de dollarize as well, selling their treasuries and buying gold and silver. It would be a race to the bottom, as the dollar started to slide. If the value of the Dollar declines faster than the yield to worse on the Treasuries, its a formula for a depression. In that case, the US Treasury could seize gold and silver and print more money, deflating the dollar further.

I went to the bank today and took out a bunch of cash. The newbie young teller asked me what I was going to do with it. I told her that I was going to spend it, duh. I was checking out at Sam's Club and I asked the cashier what I needed to be able to utilize the automatic checkout. You have to have a debit card. He told me that they still take cash. I told him that I don't have a debit card and don't intend to get one. What BS.

They want a programmable digital currency. Don't go along with it. Use cash.

not big news that BRICS is dumping treasuries for gold. it's been pointed out here for the last couple of years. there are a few here who still refuse to accept the fact that BRICS is a growing problem for the US dollar. fortunately, for now, any nation wishing to do international trade needs dollars in their piggy bank. BRICS is inching towards not needing a dollar collection at all.

Today the dollar is being held up by the imminent inflation risks. Central Banks in Europe just raised their rates. The Japanese will do that too. After all, as Paul Voelker (remember him?) proved. The only way to stop inflation is with higher interest rates. Only this time, its different. We cant afford to raise interest rates, because we have to pay the interest on the debt with something. The Bond Market is selling off. Oil Prices are up. War Premium. Diesel fuel prices- not Gasoline price is what matters most because that is how goods get moved around the world. US Treasuries are selling way below the private bond market. US deficit and Federal debt are through the roof. In short we are F**Ked. The dollar, while still used to denominate commodities, is not the only game in town anymore.

In short, "CHI-na" has "all the cards". That's why they are hoarding physical silver and gold. Why? Because in the end gold and silver are the last real money.

It's COMEX price manipulation vs. China demand. I predict China will steal the price setting which will have a negative affect on London BMA and COMEX and a positive affect for stackers.

China is hoarding physical gold for a reason. They know that they will eventualy sieze control of gold pricing.

And we think the grass is greener over there....

    From the AI interweb...

The US government debt-to-GDP ratio is approximately 139%, while China's official central government ratio is around 96%. However, China's total debt-to-GDP ratio—which includes hidden local government and state enterprise obligations—is widely estimated by economists to exceed 300%.U.S. Debt OverviewRatio: ~ 139% of GDPAbsolute Debt: Reaches nearly $39 trillion.Structure: A vast majority of the debt is held at the federal level, with U.S. debt viewed as the global reserve asset.Interest & Sustainability: While the U.S. carries massive total debt, its central capacity to print its own currency offers a major safeguard. U.S. debt per capita is very high, estimated near $118,000 per American.China's Debt OverviewOfficial Ratio: ~ 96% of GDPTotal Estimated Ratio: Frequently estimated at over 300% when factoring in "hidden" Local Government Financing Vehicles (LGFVs).
