Greeley (Colorado) Coin Show report

This report is a little late - the show was actually last Saturday (11 July 2026).
I like this show because it is inexpensive and easy to do.
A 20 mile drive each way, one day only, and the table only costs $45.
I didn't count the number of tables, but I think it was about 30.

I had very little for inventory until a few days before the show.
A coin shop in another town nearby had taken in a collection of items that I had minted over the past several years.
So I made an offer for the whole lot and bought everything that was left.
I priced it all and displayed it at the show as my main inventory.

Public attendance was somewhat light, but it is a small local show and advertising for it is minimal
(which keeps the table costs down considerably).

I did not see much bullion business going on. I did not have any bullion to offer and I wasn't offered any.
It seems, in general, that buyers are waiting for lower prices and sellers are waiting for higher prices.

But I did sell about half of the inventory I had bought a week prior at the coin shop.

I didn't go to the show intending to buy much, or anything in particular.
But it turned out that perhaps the best aspect of the show was the items that I came home with.

A coin club member brought this over to me and I usually buy these when they are less than about $80 (this HK-870 was $70):

After some discussion regarding authenticity, grading, and pricing, another local coin club member indicated that they would be willing to take $400 for this Colonial 1773 Virginia Halfpenny copper (N. 25 M., W-1580). All I had to go on for pricing was the Red Book. But due to the nice condition, I decided that the price was right. I grade it MS62BN:

Towards the end of the show I had a little time to look around. One dealer I know has inventory that is almost entirely "raw" US collector coins. I spent a fair amount to time looking through their offerings and I came away with these (grades are mine):

So it was a good day's outing.
But it got better when I took one last look around the show before it ended.
In the back of a dealer's showcase I spotted this ingot. When I asked what they wanted for it, I felt a little bad for the dealer. The price they were asking was WAY below what I guessed the market value to be. So I paid them twice what they were asking:
