New 2026 Quarters White Spots

I've come across this white milk spot residue from the mint pretty often from all the new coins I've searched. Is there anyway to clean/remove this off of the coins?

    I'm not sure about the milk spots but based on the way you're holding the coin you'll probably have other issues to worry about.

    ... just an example quarter to get the point across... There's been like 900 million minted so not too much to worry about ;)

    Fair enough.

    Milk spots are sometimes an issue on silver coins and I'm not sure they can be reliably removed. I'm not sure if a quick dip would remove them from clad.

    I do not believe they can be removed with acetone.

    Anyone else have any experience with these?

    Likely not removable imo.

    The wash/rinse/dry methods used in the minting process are not always successful for a spot-free coin intended for circulation quality coins.

    That wash/rinse/dry residue has been pressed into the coin upon strike, and most likely will remain until it gets to VF condition.

    Look at the Omega 1C blanks that they pulled from a bin of std-circ planchets for that offering. Those water spots on the Omega's are there for life. Just an opinion.

    Acetone will not remove those stains and a dip will likely ruin a clad coin by causing discoloration and not remove the stain. Stick with dipping only silver uncirculated or proof coins carefully if you have experience. But then again it's just a quarter and you can spend it, so dip it and see what happens. ;)

    i've never seen nor know of a "white spotting" issue with clad coins

    if this is widespread, then it's new and likely due to an internal change at the mint

    it would take some experimentation to see if they can be conserved

    Milk spots on clad? I thought that was solely reserved for the gutter metal. The Weiman's worked wonders for gutter milk, not so sure how it would do for clad milk, but I would assume similar. THKKS!

    I found several in the 2026 Mint sets myself. I will take some pics this weekend, Looks like a rinse issue to me.

    Same here with the new Mint sets. Water spotting (as seen above) on clad has been an issue for decades.

    That was one of the first things that I checked on mine and all looked good. Mine had a few real ugly spots on a couple of the Native American dollar that got them a trip back to DFW, although 2 bad sets out of 15 wasn't too bad.

    I would be hesitant to call them milk spots

    the name "milk spots" was first given to white spots on silver.

    to reuse the term on clad coinage is confusing what is likely 2 different chemical reactions

    I'd like to try and remove the spots, is acetone fine to work with clad coins? Never done anything with clad coins so hoping someone who's worked with them can give recommendations.

    i doubt acetone would touch it but it won't hurt clad
