SBA Lamination Error

don129don129 Posts: 562 ✭✭✭

So I noticed the other thread someone posted about a struck through SBA and remembered I have this coin. Found it while searching through a sealed bag of $2,000 ordered directly from the US Mint years ago. Always found it interesting, no idea if it's valuable or not

Nice error. I'm not sure it's a lamination error, though.

I think I'd call it defective planchet, exposed copper layer, etc.

Yep, perhaps that it's the better and more accurate description. It catches your eye for sure

Probably a defective clad layer, but could also be struck/rolled in scrap. More than the other coin, better pics and a weight would help. Cool error for sure!

As to value, I’m just going to throw out a guess. It’s rather small, but on these higher denomination coins, they can be very desirable. Maybe $100 - $125?
