ED COIN plastic Lincoln cent

I got this a while ago, then forgot about it. I just found it again underneath some furniture. Oops!

I assume this is an ED-ucational COIN, i.e. play money. The style of the obverse looks like early 1970s to me. The quality is quite good. Brown plastic, 21 mm (so a bit larger than actual size).

Does anyone recognize the set that it's from?

I tried searching for "ed coin". It wasn't very helpful. I got hits about uncirculat- ED COIN and certifi- ED COIN, nothing I saw about this piece.

    You can get similar plastic tokens for $5-$6/100 piece bag.

    I've always wondered- why not just use real pennies that cost $1/100 pieces?

    If a child swallows one of these plastic "coins" they will be ok. A copper or zinc cent could cause medical issues.

    Did a search on eBay for educational coinage—this set caught my eye.
