Obermann sucks!
Olbermann is a weak angry pathetic man. Calling him a man is giving him the benefit of the doubt. Every time I see the guy speaking he's angry and demented. I can't imagine going through life upset all the time. Very sad.
For the longest time he lived in his mom's basement . If he got his driver's license , that would be new to me . An angry man with mommy issues . He had so much talent but could never get past his bitterness of life . I hope he finds what can bring joy to his life , one day soon .
I would love to know the extent of his collection.

He bought a card off me on ebay and never gave a positive feedback. Dick.
This just shows you the randomness of reality. Obie just stumbles into the collectibles and hits it rich and is now a part of us all equally.
Fun Fact: As a then SIXTEEN year old, he wrote all the backs of the 1976 SSPC set, the most famous of all "outlaw" sets.

I see. I had no idea he came out as…. Political and has lashed out angrily against the right. Now it makes sense.
He is selling his cards to pay for therapists..
Looks like Keith is living rent free in some of your noggins. And just a reminder: nobody cares how you feel personally about Keith Olberman. But, yeah, he's definitely the one who needs therapy and has mommy issues lol.
How about commenting on the card itself since that's why we're all here?
The restoration is really impressive from the die cut it once was. Not something I could afford, but I think it'll do much better than most think.
Al and the crew at LOTG made a very informative and interesting webpage cover the card and its restoration.

From what I've read so far, Keith lost touch with the conservator that restored this card many years ago. It would be interesting to know if the restoration work is completely reversible without damage the "real" portion of this card. Most reputable and professional conservators will usually play by the rule of making all restoration work reversible. I'm not bidding on this, but if I were, it would be good to know that info on the restoration.
I'd also add that since they went through the effort to use a real card as a donor for the background, the conservator should have either chosen a background that more closely resembles the Honus background (like the Billy Sullivan portrait as one example) or they should have done more inpainting on the background so it was a solid color of orange. The yellowish fading background they used looks like it is from an E card, and detracts from the eye appeal.
I’d be shocked if the work can be reversed.

what are the 10 craziest things he's said?
I vaguely remember this guy. Wasn't he a comedian or something?
I remember him for being too serious for whatever he was reporting.
But that was funny!
Remove the man from the discussion and you have an amazing restoration project. I'm sure it will go for six figures plus. The card, the story, the celebrity...
Sounds like you have people living rent free in your noggin. Pointing out that a scumbag is a scumbag is not having him live in one's head. Its a statement of fact. Talk with people who know him.
Go on YOUTUBE and listen to any 5 of his posts. He's an angry, weak, hateful guy. He's more upset in one 2 minute video then I have been all year combined.
I really find it odd that on a sports message board we would have so many people that like to patrol speech. I would expect this on some academia website or a ballet website.
I liked it better before the restoration. If it matters
Turned a true 1/1 into a modern card 1/1. Ugh
You’re lashing out at some sports commentator because he aligns against your political and social beliefs. You are delightfully unhinged dude and I want more. I want a triple scoop.
Oh yeah. Local sports guy from the 80s. He was easier to digest then.
call me old school, even curmudgeony if you'd like, but the moment i read 'card' and 'restoration' in the same sentence, i'm out. never to return. couldn't care less about the card, the worth, the owner, the backstory, or the end result.
Calling someone a scumbag is not a statement of fact. It's an opinion. Some people who know him may think he's a scumbag. That is also their opinion. I really don't have a strong opinion either way on KO because I haven't followed him since he was an anchor on ESPN.
You're free to believe and write and say whatever you want. I'm free to agree or disagree with it. PSA is free to deem what you write acceptable or not acceptable on their private message board.
I just find it funny that you in particular are getting so worked up over some person who has no influence or control over a single aspect of your life.
But carry on...
This is exactly where I stand, if I was a billionaire and given that card I'd sell it and donate the money to charity
I'd rather have a beat up card in my collection than an altered one but that's just me
Worked up? I have not thought about the scumbag since I made my post. He means NOTHING to me. The one who is worked up is the guy who told others that the scumbag is living in people's heads. You made that comment big guy.
Regarding him being a scumbag - go on to YOUTUBE when you have time and watch 5-7 of his rants. You tell me if that's how happy secure men talk.
I got a question about Olberman, how can he argue one way or another on The Boner play?
Seems weird to argue about a play that happened in a 1908 game lol
Back in the day Berman, Olberman and Patrick were awesome on Sportscenter
I miss those days
fast forward to the 1990's or 2000's and ol' Fred could have made a fortune hawking Viagra

Not even a minute do I buy the whole buh buh buh I'm a man-child japery - Me (2025)
Agreed, this isn't art or comic books. They are no restorations allowed.
Successful card BST transactions with cbcnow, brogurt, gstarling, Bravesfan 007, and rajah 424.
it's certainly subjective and arbitrary so there's that. If I wanted to make an argument to say that it's not allowed just because it's not allowed, I would avoid Art where restoration is quite common. In the Art market the value of an item generally increases once restored based on the quality and historical authenticity of the restoration.
but here's the rub. if you're a true collector, a legit true collector, the au naturel state of the item you're collecting takes precedence over its value. that's just my personal opinion.
seriously, if you gifted me a card worth a quarter of a million dollars and i knew it had been jacked with, i'd never be able to look at that piece of cardboard the same way. and i certainly wouldn't even THINK about not disclosing that fact to the next recipient should i ever part ways with it.
what's important to some isn't the least bit important to others
Send it to me. I will take it. I would not pay all that money for it. But it's as close to a T206 Wagner that I would ever see. As long as I know it's been altered then I can live with it.
I think it's a fine opinion to have.
Regarding disclosure I wasn't speaking to that type of nefarious action and in Art restoration you're usually proud to proclaim who did the restoration and how it was done. In this case of the Honus Wagner I would prefer it to be restored. It would be more valuable to me that way.
I agree'd with your post because I also stopped being interested (enough to look it up) when I learned it was a hacked up and restored example.
would I rather own is as a cut-out or a well-restored example? in that particular case I don't have any interest in owning a T206 wagner which was cut out. so in that sense it's an interesting question for me that I had to consider and I'm sure there are cases where I would lean the other way.
Restoration is definitely a personal opinion however I do think that it's been a defacto no no for sports cards as far back as I can remember but here comes the graded slabs with an "A" on it and there are plenty of people happy to have those in their collection so opinions vary
Art, comics, coins, cards I want in original condition but that's just me, sure I have a couple pieces of art that are reprints and I'm fine with that while some might say it's blasphemy
Talking classic cars I had a guy drive up next to me in a parking lot with a beautiful cherry red 1957 Chevy, we got talking and I was telling him how nice it looked and when I asked him what was original the guy laughed and said the odometer was the only original 1957 Chevy part in the entire car and he was happy as can be
To each their own
Keith is active on the net54 board and actively discussing this card. I'm sure he'd love to hear from you.
A perfectly fine opinion.
A defacto standard is nothing to hang a hat on. That usually just means it’s a societal norm and those change with the wind sometimes.
The car restoration angle is interesting.
I would discuss his behavior anytime he wants. Let him explain his insane rants on YOUTUBE. Its not normal behavior which is why he's known as an angry unhappy weak dude. Normal happy men devote their time to their wife, kids, job, and friends. What's left over should be on things one likes to do. Going on insane rants on social media discussing topics that make one look like a fool is no way to live a life.
Once again for anyone who thinks Olbermann is playing with a full deck go on YOUTUBE and listen to some of his rants. You tell me if that's normal behavior. Is that behavior you would want a loved one to be doing?
I don’t follow Olberman but I’d suggest arguing on these boards isn’t a sign of a well adjusted adult either. No, I wouldn’t want my wife arguing with rando’s online.
Also, he has 5 Wagners. From a hobby perspective I’d say thats pretty well adjusted.
I'm not arguing I'm giving my opinion on a sports message board about the guy who owns this card and going after another poster because you disagree with his opinion is not a sign of a well adjusted adult. A well adjusted person gives specific examples backed with evidence if available on why one disagrees with another guys opinion.
Attacking a poster without offering examples of why one disagrees is weak and not the sign of a well adjusted adult.
I don't want a card that has been touched up in my collection. That said, if it was between this restored card and a cut out that was missing borders or half the card altogether, I would want the restored card. Missing half the card or pieces of the card would bother me more. At least the full card looks presentable instead of one that has had scissors taken to it.
What about unmarried normal happy men?
I bought George Washingtons hatchet. The handle had been replaced and a different blade inserted. But it occupies the same space .
