    HR derby tonight

    Who do you guys like?

  • Options
    stevekstevek Posts: 32,423 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Kyle Schwarber +340
    Munetaka Murakami +470
    Junior Caminero +480
    Jordan Walker +600
    Jac Caglianone +650
    Bryce Harper +850
    Ben Rice +900
    Willson Contreras +1100

After the thrashing I took on that dam
WNBA game, I'm at the monastery until
Thursday. I won't be betting on it, but I'll
be rooting for the two Phillies. 😊

I put a $5 bonus bet into a Caglionne, France, and England parlay.
Put a very tiny amount of my own money on Schwarber.
This way I can just enjoy watching without risking much.
Different format this year, no time clock. 20 swings first round, after that 15 swings.

I was thinking of putting some bets in on Cameinero and Walker

It'll probably end up being Schwarber but who knows

It’s on Netflix so I guess I won’t be watching. I put a bet on Jac for longest HR.

I saw that it's on Netflix, honestly it pissed me off

I actually have a Netflix account so it's not that I can't watch it but the fact that this event is a fun event for fans to enjoy and they need to put it on a pay per view channel and it's complete garbage, how about giving low income fans a freaking opportunity to enjoy it without making them pay for it

It's a free market I get it but gimme a break, MLB could let it be seen on regular TV

but +750 instead of +100 sure would have been nice

I think that's around a $500 microphone, so the guy must have money.

Based on his agony, i'm gonna guess he had 5k on Schwarber. May have been more.

Phillies' Bryce Harper says FanDuel used his Cameo video as VIP reward without consent in a gambler's case - CBS Philadelphia https://share.google/anleJgSin7GpHkrqG

In other news, I been reading about a custom message from Bryce Harper to a fan duel customer whale this guy apparently lost everything and come to find out (.According to Harper ) that fan duel stole the personal message and used it for this guy without Harper knowing

I guess people can pay to have recorded personalized messages for whatever occasion, this was one of those messages and Fan Duel used it for one of their VIP's who lost millions

Glad to read Harper didn't willingly or knowingly do this

Been a long time ago, maybe around 15-20 years, this friend of mine, his family got him a birthday present of Pete Rose sending him a personal video. Mentioning my friend's name, etc, wishing him happy birthday, etc. Was only around a minute long. Pete of course charged money for doing this.

If somebody had done something like that without Pete's consent, thru AI, editing a video, or whatever, Pete would have a slam dunk winning lawsuit case. Only a question of how much money.

Almost hard to believe that FanDuel could be this stupid. Sounds like Harper might have a slam dunk lawsuit. Although these days, news stories can include inaccurate information.

when i placed my bet last Friday, the line was -146 for France to advance. it was driven up to -164 over the weekend. money then came in on Spain and it dropped back down to -148. as i type this, back up to -152.

    Allez la France !

    Good win on Walker, Galaxy!
I’m betting on the elite hitters beating the elite pitchers tonight and going with the over 7.5 runs.
Also a long shot bet on Witt for MVP.

I had a grand total of $3.51 bet on Schwarber to win so I really didn’t care that he lost in the finals but if I had a large amount wagered I would have been pissed but not because of a bad beat, I’m 62 and know very well how to handle defeat.😂
The reason I would have been ticked off is around 9:30-9:45 central last night I asked AI on my phone who won the 2026 home run derby. It said Kyle Schwarber defeated Jordan Walker in the final round. Now I wish I would have taken a screenshot. Shortly after that I saw your post about Jordan at +700 would have been a great win. So I knew AI had once again given me bad info. I’m done with asking my phone anything. That would have pissed me off thinking I had won if I had a big amount bet.
Now this morning I see AI has it correct.

    @Darin

if you posted your wager on Schwarber i must have missed it. i took a conservative approach and took Walker to reach the semis, thus i didn't need him to win. i wish the outcome had been different now!

my baseball fandom eroded years ago. the only time i'm even remotely immersed is when i hit up Cardinals games with my dad, which is going to happen again in a few weeks. so if i pay little attention to the actual games themselves, just imagine my interest in sideshows like the home run derby. very little.

that said, i watched the final on youtube early this morning. if you any of you haven't, you should. it was riveting. the atmosphere was electric at Citizens, especially considering a Phillie was involved. Philadelphia fans get a bad rap generally speaking, but i've read a number of posts from many who attended and they were all praising Walker. the consensus of opinion was that it was epic. one guy said he had been to at least 15 of them and last night's version was by far the best.

edit: just caught this short. Schwarber is a classy dude.

Galaxy I had that tiny bet on Schwarber and a couple on Caglionne all I had was $23.51 total wagered.

Today I have 2 all-star bets and a France Spain parlay only because of a profit boost.
    France ML
Both teams to score in regulation
    Mbappe anytime scorer

    never mind.

    no synopsis needed.

    dead.

if there is one thing i have learned in all my days of gambling on sports, when a line moves hard against you, it should always give you pause. and as i mentioned earlier, money came pouring in on Spain this past weekend out of the blue. in my heart of hearts, i knew my bet was in deep trouble.

it's all good. but i'm telling you bro, i may not be a proficient gambler, but one thing i know for a fact is that when a line moves hard against you and you can't decipher why, you best get scared. i never, ever allow someone else to dictate what type of bet i will make, but i'm never opposed to seeing what others think. and i'm here to tell you that 99% of the "experts" i stumbled across picked France to win.

so when the opinions of virtually everyone, including myself, differed from the line movement, tornado sirens start blaring

and then it happened: an ambush that no one predicted

when you start gaining traction and come upon a game you're supremely confident in, only to lose decidedly, it completely takes the wind out of your sails. that's me after the grotesque showing by France today.

to quote the illustrious stevek, sports betting -- tough way to make a living.

on to the Open. i feel good about these picks. which doesn't make me feel good.

After watching that soccer game today I can definitely say I don’t understand it. England scores and then spends the rest of the game trying to prevent Argentina from scoring. No attempt to stay aggressive and score again. Like the prevent defense in football.
The last 15-25 minutes of the game even I could tell what was going to happen. Argentina was getting off shot after shot….it was inevitable some of them were going to start going in.

Baseball was rough yesterday, couldn't hit anything but hit the casino with my buddies and hit for $400 so profitable day

Wish I stayed away from the baseball, tough to win both games and casino, I typically either do one or the other for that reason
