If someone offered you a stamp collection ...

how would you go about making an offer in today's stamp market?

Would you even make an offer?

All glory is fleeting.

I'd look to see if they had any Inverted Jennys or Zeppelins, and if not, I'd charge them a fee to haul the collection away.

    And that's only a slight exaggeration. :)

If they gave me the collection and I was in a good mood I might take it.

If it included unused U.S. postage, yes.

Since most stamp collections today have little value, I would separate what could be used for postage and suggest the rest of the stamps be given to me for free,
This would be with the understanding that if there are stamps that are sellable in today's market, I would sell them on their behalf and give them the full proceeds. If any of the stamps were of interest to me, I would pay what they could bring at auction.
