I DO NOT LIKE these slabs

I need this coin for my PCGS type set, but the slab is ugly, upside down and does not match the rest of my coins.

There are some on eBay with the usual PCGS label. Not as many, but they're out there.

What more could he give besides his clear, straightforward answer to the complaining, insulting, and confused OP?

    Ye

Yeah, I don't know that more is required. I could have gone on to suggest resubmitting to be slabbed differently, but that seemed obvious. He didn't really ask for a solution to the problem. He just stated that he hated them.

All comments reflect the opinion of the author, even when irrefutably accurate.

Why am I "complaining, insulting, and confused"? I currently have 101 slabs in my type set and this one would be the only one that is different. I will continue to look for one that is in a another slab. I don't like to insult people, but i came pretty close here . . .

I'm sure there'll be many more in regular slabs in a few months.

When I write too much, people complain. When I'm concise, people complain. What's a poor fellow to do?

Some people would complain if you hung them with a new rope, right?

Except -- there really was a reason not to use a new rope, they tend to twist and turn, instead of performing the necessary quickly and cleanly.

OP: Buy one and pay to have it reholdered...

I'm not a fan of any slab. Maybe doilies or white labels. True rattlers are okay.

You were complaining about a slab that you hate, yet there are plenty of options for a different slab.

You're insulting our host, and those who really like the special label.

You're confused when you say it's upside down - it is NOT upside down lol.

If you made a poll, you'd realize most collectors here are probably either indifferent or like these slabs.

Even so, fun thread. Thanks for starting it.

You're insulting our host, and those who really like the special label.

The host will let the poster know if the so-called insult rises to a level with them that calls for them to take an action. Really, it's just an opinion. There is no need to get thine's BVDs in a twist about an opinion about a holder or the coin it contains.

If a picture wasn't going very well I'd put a puppy dog in it, always a mongrel, you know, never one of the full bred puppies. And then I'd put a bandage on its foot... I liked it when I did it, but now I'm sick of it.

Yes, I'm sure the host doesn't have their knickers in a twist over this thread being created to bash/opine on one of its products.

However, starting a thread with the title "I hate these slabs" on the slab's own forum is classless, just me. Not to mention dancing around breaking forum rule #4.

I may be insulted/offended by the OP's post since I like the label, but I don't have a right to not be offended.

    So be it.

Hate is such a strong and powerful word.
    It should be used sparingly.

After reading the comments to my post, I changed the title from "hate" to "do not like". There are a lot of good comments and I probably was too harsh at first. Sorry if I offended anyone.

More disappointed than offended I'd guess.

The slab is the standard PCGS slab they've had for years. I think what you don't like is the label and the orientation.

You might like the slab more if it turns out to be a rare slab worth a substantial premium like the despised oversized Regency slabs,

As long as it’s a PCGS or NGC slab, I don’t really care what it looks like. Buy the coin not the holder.

I purchased a mint-sealed bag of those half-dollars and am delighted to own it in lieu of any certified example(s).

Yep, I can definitely relate…But, if it’s a coin that I really need for the right price; I guess I could look the other way.
