Ok. Pokemon card, worth slabbing?

Okay, this is not an offer to sell anything. This is my kids card. I know coins. I do not know these. Is this card worth getting slabbed by PSA (is slabbed the right term) ...
I can't tell you an 8 versus 9 versus a 10 but the card was taken from its pack and put into the sleeve. What are the approximate costs involved? Getting status to submit and submitting? Thanks for any info.

Seems like it might cost $150 for the membership and then $150 The tier but this might price out?
I guess if it's 10 it's worth it (via eBay prices realized) and not, if it's a 9.

I guess I could submit via store But I don't know any well enough to trust them. I certainly don't trust coin dealers unless I know them already.

I'd say its absolutely 100% worth slabbing. Just maybe a question of when. There is not much value in submitting a card to PSA for grading today on most cards. I am not even sure what the costs would be but if 150 to become a member and 150 to get the card graded, that is not a great financial opportunity for you.

Its an interesting situation. The gold cards are extremely scarce. Not necessarily from the angle of how many graded copies are out there because a ridiculous amount of packs and boxes are being opened and cards submitted. But from the angle of pulling that card from a pack you are looking at 1 in every 950 to 1250 packs.

eBay completed sales shows a PSA 10 going for 800 and a PSA 9 for 400. But its a recently released set and the first ones sold can go for high prices and then they can dip a little in price as time passes but eventually the right card will go back up again. The price is also probably impacted by the shutdown of lower price submissions.

So over time, its a card you will want to get graded. And you will probably want to protect it in more than a penny sleeve. Top loader or semi-rigid and stored safely. If this is the only card you want to submit a membership might not be a great idea and you may want to look at other options. But it is probably best to be patient and wait til the price per card drops after PSA works through their backlog.

Congrats to your kid on the great pull.

Wow, cool to see a long time poster from the old Open Forum & OFR days.

Thank you!!!! I appreciate the veteran perspective and what you're saying rings true. I am going to relocate it, in its sleeve, into a rigid currency holder for now ..

Sept in philly has a walk in, drop off. Maybe it'll be clearer then.

You don't have to join to submit at any of the tiers that are available right now. You only have to join to submit at collectors club tiers, which are closed.
