I went back to the discussion and the Star was unclicked and is about bookmarking...
Try “Settings”
Then “Edit Profile”
Then “Notification Preferences”
Then look at your options on the left side of the page that comes up.

Simple, turn the computer off and go outside.
After all these years my wife still thinks I'm sexy. Every time I walk by she says "What An Ass"
I tried that, but when I come back inside, I got 100 notifications again.
So are you saying stay outside? Like forever.
