EVERY DAY IS A GOOD DAY, BUT SOME DAYS ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS
Dean Castetter would begin each lecture stating, "Every Day is a Good Day, But Some Days are Better.than Others."
Today was definitely one of those "better than others" days. An extended family member who a week ago suffered a traumatic head injury that took him to the hospital for emergency brain surgery went from touch and go to being released to rehab today. My own course of physical therapy after a lesser surgery of my own was successfully completed today.
To top it off the sun came out and I was able to capture these below linked videos, each accompanied by music, that collectively confirm that today was one that was better than others.
Included in the below linked playlist are daisies that dance in the wind, a ship that sails, a train that rides the rails, and a helicopter that hovers.
FROM THIS MORNING -
ALL ABOARD FOR ALASKA RAILROAD'S SUMMERTIME GLACIER DISCOVERY TRAIN
Only in the summer can you ride Alaska Railroad’s Glacier Discovery Train for a round trip from Anchorage to secluded glaciers on the Kenai Peninsula which are off the road system
With a mid morning departure the train, equipped with a Chugach Explorer Dome Car accessible to all passengers arrives in Whittier at noon. There enjoy the picnic lunch you have packed for the day trip. To reach Whittier you will have passed through America’s longest train/car tunnel that extends 2 1/2 miles.
Once you reach the remote Spencer Glacier Whistle Stop in the early afternoon you can either get off and river raft close to Spencer Glacier or stay on to experience scenic Grandview and its Glacier.
Either way, late in the afternoon you will either reboard or continue on to return to Anchorage in the evening.
