I think $650 is kind of steep. I feel bad for the people shelling that out. Its going to be very sobering in a month or two when they are $100.

Or sobering when you can't buy one for less then $1,000. Time will tell

Ummm… thinking out loud here, but if these end up holding at $1,000+ each, that would mean the broader coin market is pouring more than $250 million into this single issue. (250,000 mintage × $1k+ = quarter-billion dollars in collector value.)
@jmlanzaf or @NJCoin, correct my math if I’m off, but that doesn’t sound very “sobering” to me. That sounds more like 7–9 tequila shots chased with a few beers — pure optimism and wishful thinking… 😅 BUT fully agree that time will tell, indeed.

I tend to agree. But there's an old saying on Wall Street, "the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent."

I would be surprised if they are over $100 longer term. But mid-mania...?

No one gets 800 in a box of $1000.
And it definitely would not have been rolled in nearly solid rolls if mixed in with ballistic bags of $50,000 face.
Something just doesnt sound right - but more power to the guy that got them (likely he has some partners to share his find with.....)

It was 815 in a box of $500 face, you can see the video for yourself. Clearly the Mint didn't mix them in very well (or at all) when putting them into the ballistic bags.

Dont take my quote out of context. I saw the video.

A ballistic bag is a huge $50,000 face bag that is rolled by coin providers and distributed in boxes. The mint does not roll the coins.

The USM - for the W quarter program - sat the W quarters in a separate bag on top of the ballistic bag contents. I assume they would do the same for these privy quarters.

It's easy to NOT distribute those privy's evenly when you sprinkle them in heavy handed to a few boxes. Hence why you end up with 815 in one box of 2000.

There are approx 63 million Declearation of Independence Qtrs produced by the USM per their figures. That gives us a .004 rate of distribution. On a $1000 box that's 16 privy's.

OK - so double it, triple it, make it 10x the normal rate = nowhere near 815 coins in a single box.

Now tell me 815 in one box of 4,000 quarters ($500 face) is normal.

The 2020-W V75 Privy quarters are selling for less than $20 if you find someone who even wants one.

I will be rushing to my bank early monday morning to order quarter boxes! I will be happy finding just one!
Truely, with this many found in one box the price will drop very fast. Even at $100 per coin finding 815 is an instant $80,000 profit!

It's likely your bank will give one of three responses when you ask for these quarters:

    1) What quarter? Independence Day Quarter? I've never heard of it.
    2) We dont have any.
    3) If we order quarter boxes, we cant guarantee what we get.

    Good Luck.

Of course you don't know what you will get -but if you don't hunt them. you will not find any. My bank does not have any quarters on hand, I know that, I have to order them. My bank will order me any coin boxes that I ask them too. I may get nothing, but then I may even get a silver or "W" quarter or two. You never know.

Plenty of people still want them though obviously you couldn't care less about them.

Very misleading statement you make as far as the price point. Big difference between heavily circulated damaged coins vs. BU W quarters.

Ebay completed auctions documents these facts.

271k Silver proof set remain buyable for $245 & you get ((((((5)))))) silver 25c. Why is some 250k media hyped clad trash worth more than a few bucks long term ??? Hollis has been giving them away in pairs in media so essentially worth less a quarter as they are free.

BUT Hype should drive new collectors into hobby. THUS THIS a win for New Hire Hollis.

So, from 1900 to today business strike quarter low mintages lower than 250,000 include 01-s 13-s 16 P. They were just coins put into circulation, no announcement or rewards for finding them. So I think this situation for a clad quarter is different. It might be the first of many such coin drops to come or the only one. I like it. I think it's fun, so what if it's worth "only" 50 bucks, but hey man you got it for a quarter! Not trash at all in my opinion..

BASELESS METAL COINS are trash. My opinion, and I follow my money which I spend zero bucks on baseless clad.

This observation has been pondered since 1965 when silver was taken away way back when paper promises were made in lieu of precious metal backing.

Precious metal coins are worth something more than Hollis 250k give away gifts you covet. His 25c's costs far less than a 25c face to stamp out.

I bought FIVE silver 2026S 25c's for a fraction of his free bee clad 25c struck in worthless baseless metal buyers are clamoring for on fleabay.

Drop 5 grand, or a grand or drop a lowly Benjamin, 250k is not a low mintage for circ baseless metal swill as everything this year is bumped up 250k ish and things I am buying are made of real .999 fine silver and will not sell out anytime soon.

Enjoy what you collect as I certainly do.

    And Always,

    Happy Shopping !

I would pay $1 for one if I could take my coin of choice out of a roll.

If a picture wasn't going very well I'd put a puppy dog in it, always a mongrel, you know, never one of the full bred puppies. And then I'd put a bandage on its foot... I liked it when I did it, but now I'm sick of it.

Yup. We have confirmed 2 sellers who found "monster" quarter boxes of the privy quarters.

Appears whomever was responsible for distributing them in to rolls got lazy or careless and didn't take the time to seperate the privy coins so at least 2 boxes contained hundreds of them.

Extremely lucky for some and very unfortunate for the rest of us hoping to find them on our own.

I am not giving up the hunt!

Where do you get 271K -- the mint ats is 4310 for the 2026 silver set and that will be exhausted soon enough. The privy quarters are business strike and not available in any set -- we are lucky that Hollis gave away a bunch of pairs it will bring the price down for those who want them.

Just because you don't want one (and I don't) does not mean anything.

Collect what you want and let others do the same.

I won 3 of the W quarters PCGS First Discovery contests.

I know what it takes to win and I have been tracking these Privy quarters.

Guarantee that at least 1 person has already submitted a quarter last week for each of these contests and likely that there are multiple winners for each contest.

He's taking about the total mintage of 271k which is actually close to the 250k for the privy

I question that take, as he specifically brings up the silver proofs, which have a mint number around 271K but may well fall short of that: H stated, "bought FIVE silver 2026S 25c's for a fraction of his free bee clad 25c," makes me think he means silver sets.

I question these having $1,000 valuation with 250,000 mintage & am using Silver proof set issue price for comparison. 2026 versus 2026

Many were unhappy with proof set price hikes yet there are 10 coins & 1.47 ounce 999 silver is included for $245. 8 are unique to set.

Cherry picking is fun, enjoy the search.

    Happy Hunting !

So, according to your "get off my lawn" attitude, collecting coins should stop at 1964 and no cents, two cent, nickels or paper money? Wow, what a way to go through life.

Just questioning the hype over amazing value offered by a 250,000 mintage baseless metal coin. $1,000 or more $1,000 or less. Certainly hundreds $ it seems. Given away free at Denver Mint gift shop. Free value to $1,000. Pairs given away to Mint employees for free and the ones posted on facebook I have seen look flawless. There are many posts from finders on facebook. Better buy one or several before price drops further.

He does. But that's the total mintage of silver quarters. And there are 5 quarters in each set.

I'm not saying I agree with the comparison being meaningful. It isn't. But that's what he was referring to.

I double checked and there were two that had sold with best offers. Both were listed for around $4900 to $5000...I assume the offers were $4000 or above.

Many were sold around the $2500 level after that.

I would pay $1 for one if I could take my coin of choice out of a roll.

Looks like one seller on the 'Bay is closing in on 100K for selling 153 coins ! UNREAL ! Under $160 face !

    Good for them !!!

I'm not also.... Has any forum members found any ?

If they have, they ain't telling. I have a few Jefferson rolls I will be searching tomorrow.

My 3 rolls of all Jefferson quarters were a bust. Took a gamble and lost.
