lsicalsica Posts: 1,759 ✭✭✭✭

Can the cardboard box that the current mint set is packaged in be replaced? How and how much?

TIA

People sell mint packaging on eBay, you could look there.

Probably. Check eBay. Mint sets are a little trickier because the packaging usually doesn't get resold, but you'll find packaging for almost all Mint issues for sale.

You could also post on BST. Someone is submitting

It's unfortunately for a newly received 2026 set that its recipient opened with a bit of excess enthusiasm so nothing on eBay yet. I did just email usmint-support@usmcatalog.com, hopefully that will help.

You can always return for damaged packaging (who knows whose fault it was ;) ) but I suspect they don't have many/any replacements.

if you're talking about the unc set and not the proofs, i'd say you don't need that cardboard box unless you plan on reselling it. but even if you got the cardboard box you'd have to glue it shut. not good. it'd still be an opened set just glue shut

I was able to find this, but in case anyone is trying to find a replacement from the US Mint this is the reply I received when asking about it:

"Please be advised the cardboard box that has the two cards from the Uncirculated Coin Set is a secondary packaging not a sleeve or display box, thus there is not replacement available for it."

Sorry but of the sets that I didn't sell, I tore those cardboard boxes off in chunks, as it doesn't really have any value once opened -- gluing it shut would be lame, IMO.

Its a place to keep the cards with the coins in that actually labels what it is, I'm not looking to glue it shut and call it "unopened"

Not saying it is lame to use it to hold the coin slabs, saying that gluing together what I tore apart would look really bad. ;)
