Can you see the arrows on this 1853 Seated quarter? I tried lining up a high grade one and still don't see them, I'd appreciate some other opinions! I realize it's very worn but would expect to see some remnants of the arrows. I just don't see them. It's an 1853-O btw.

If it has rays around the eagle, it's going to have arrows at the date.

It does have a regular reverse. The obverse threw me off when I saw it. I looked to see if a no arrows 53-O quarter exists and apparently it does not. That is why I asked for another set of eyes to examine it. They are surely just worn off I suppose!

Are there any known authentic 1853O quarters w/o arrows and rays?

I can see the start of the arrow to the right of the date. I doubt any mules exist, though I'm not familiar on the matter of any 1853 No Arrows dies being created and sent to New Orleans.

To my knowledge, all the 1853 25C pieces had arrows & rays. I believe that was the first year the silver weight of these coins was reduced, which is indicated by the addition of the arrows.

Weight for a no arrows quarter should be 6.68 grams. Arrows and Rays are 6.22, There is no reported mintage or sightings for an 1853-o no arrows quarter.

@fastfreddie: nice catch & good info! Like all the pre- arrows 25C, I would bet a lot of these were melted. Low 44k mintage to begin with; these are a find.
