asheland’s latest NEWP #1 of 2 ~ The Morgan Dollar

ashelandasheland Posts: 24,446 ✭✭✭✭✭

I haven’t bought a lot of collector coins lately, and then I had these two really nice ones offered to me this week that I just couldn’t pass up…

The first one is this Morgan dollar, normally I see ATS slab and I’m a little suspicious that it’s graded properly, this one, I think they got it right!

Also, I believe this to be completely original as in, never been dipped… I conclude this because of these very, very small pieces of what I understand to be bag matter, (from the original bags) they are tiny little specs that actually have specific shapes to them, they’re not dot on the coin like fly specs, per se.

They actually have a color to them kind of a brownish color under high magnification you can tell it’s a little speck of something sticking to the surface, it’s not hurting the coin at all. I see this a lot on GSA’s and stuff and that’s why my conclusion is that this is from the original bags…

On the reverse, you can see it near the Eagles neck although this is the best picture I can offer with my current phone, but I promise you there’s an actual shape and color to that little speck and it’s something that’s sitting on the surface.

I actually like seeing that because it tells me this coin has never ever been messed with…

Anyway, I thought this was a sweet example so I picked her up!

What do you guys think? If you have something similar, post it below! I love seeing everyone else’s coins, that’s half of the fun with this hobby…

And my YouTube short, I think that music fits the coin pretty well. B)

Congrats on your newp, that would easily qualify for a Ricko blast white sticker.

I have a few examples of this date/mm in my collection, here is one I like. Not the highest grade but still one that I find pleasing to my eye, and the holder is a bonus.

Indeed, Ricko would have liked it!

I like yours in the old ANACS, a few months ago I got a nice IHC in a similar holder…
