    Its hard to tell if it would Cam or DCam, nice colors near the rim though.

    Been looking at alot of cameo and Dcam coins lately.
    I belive this one might cameo I believe Dcam wont happen.
    We both know how difficult it is to achieve either one of them. Nice coin.

    Take it with a grain of salt. Im learning.

    IMO if the coin was untoned it warrants a Cameo designation.

    The obverse has multicolored rim toning (on the lettering, the date and the fields near the rim with blue to purple, to orange/gold color that blends together as you progress from the rim toward the central devices; framing the frosted bust of FDR).

    The reverse is similar to the obverse, with most of the toning being golden in color.

    The fields under the toning are deeply mirrored.

    Looks cameo with these old eyes.

    I love it as a cameo. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, in my experience, PCGS doesn't seem to like toning when deciding whether to cam a coin or not. I've had several examples of this phenomena - so I just live with it. Smart people buy the coin and not the designation - sometimes that is unfair to the coin.

    From the pictures, my concern would be that the mirrors aren't up to a CAM or DCAM level, not so much the toning. But, now that you mention it, I don't think I have a toned cam or dcam out the 20 or so cameos from that era...

    As a general rule PCGS seems loathe to grade toned proofs as anything other than brilliant.

    So its a catch 22.
    You either keep the toning or you dip and submit.
    I imagine for you, knowing what you collect, you need to dip and submit.
    Looks like it will grade high.
    Im sure it will be more valueable with the cameo designation.

    Even dipped white it is probably questionable as a Cameo. Add to that the fact that dipping may remove some of what looks like frost but isn’t.

    The toned dime looks very similar (under the toning) to this dime in my registry set.
