BEWARE: Bad Ebay gift cards

Yesterday I purchased a ebay gift card at meijer. It only had 9 munbers instead of the usual 13. The card wont work as I keep getting a error message saying its the wrong code. I then did some research on google and the AI message says this.
''I recommend you take the card back to the store you bought it from with your receipt. Inform them that they are selling defective or possible counterfeit eBay gift cards as eBay cards ALL have 13 digits.''
I also noticed several messages on the ebay community about the 9 digit cards as others have been scammed. I have using ebay gift cards for many years, and this is the first time I have had any problems.

    I had the same thing. Got a 9 number card. I went on eBay chat and after sending them all the receipts and photos of codes etc ..eBay put the $150 on my account.

    So annoying.

    It is a security feature where the remaining 4 digits are generated and printed on the sales receipt after purchase.

    I’d take that card back to the store and ask them to swap it or refund it. I’ve had issues like this before and the cashier fixed it on the spot.
