Since it is memorabilia too figured there might be someone around here with knowledge on NASL items

With the World Cup back in USA, got me to remembering the stash of old NASL jerseys I have, mostly Washington Diplomats but also 3 1983 Team America ones. Have had these for 40+ years, but figure it's about time I try and see if they're worth anything, but can't really find comparable sold items when searching. I see some AI google snippets claiming that "Game-worn Team America NASL jerseys from their singular 1983 season are exceptionally rare, with likely fewer than 20 original examples in existence. Because they were the de facto US National Team, they played in red, white, and blue kits, making each player's jersey unique to specific matches. If you are looking for authentic, historical match-worn or team-issued shirts, they occasionally surface on specialized sports memorabilia site", but heck I don't have a clue. These were given to my father directly by players back in the day, so don't have things like COAs but these are all game worn etc. I am talking with a guy who collects NASL jerseys, but I have no idea on how to even guess at pricing such things. So, figured worth a shot to see if anyone here is in any way knowledgeable on this topic or has any insights/advice at all! :)

I just know my kids would just throw such items away eventually so hoping to find them another home. Probably way off base here but never know until you ask.

Thanks

They definitely have value, more than likely 4 figures + each. Your best option would be an auction house like Heritage or Goldin. They have the resources to do the research and they also have buyers searching for obscure and valuable such as these jerseys. With each jersey being very specific you may be able to find photo matches if you can find any video or pictures from the games. Also check Facebook for NASL fansites as the old time NASL guys would be a wealth of information.

The team americas are interesting. That team is weird story. The Diplomats Jansen might be the most valuable. I like the M-Tonio away red.

The Jansen might be the most valuable.

    It’s a cool collection.

I don’t know about value for these and agree with someone like heritage advising. The stories are what make them worth something. Good luck ;)

Thanks for the input bgr and gameusedhoop. Appreciate it. Guess I'll see what Heritage has to say though I have 0 experience with auction houses. :)

Just google "1983 team america nasl jersey"
There is a ton of info on it & some pictures. It goes on to say they are HIGHLY sought after. I am now thinking high 4 figures or low five figures.

I have never seen any of the major auction houses offer many, if any, NASL jerseys. There is definitely a group of collectors who seek them out, though. Those are indeed worth something, definitely not five figures…a few thousand collectively?

Have you been in touch with Dave Morrison of nasljerseys.com? He’s an expert and collector.

If you’re on Facebook there’s a group called Vintage NASL & MISL Match Worn Jersey History Forum. I think a lot of people would covet your collection. I’m sure you could get a better idea of value and potentially make a private deal with someone there.

(By the way Perry Van der Beck is a great guy. I saw him play a lot for the Wichita Wings of the old MISL.)

Thanks RedHearts54. I am actually in touch with Mr. Morrison and have worked out a IMO good deal for both of us on these jerseys plus 4 signed balls, 3 Diplomats and 1 Cosmos.

So all in all, good end, found a good spot for these items and happy with the deal made.

Thanks for your input, folks. Much appreciated.

Glad you made a deal with him. Your items will go to someone who will appreciate them.

NASL and MISL jersey collectors are a niche but passionate group!
