    Pasted:
In soccer statistics, a "shot on goal" is defined as any deliberate attempt to score that either:
    Enters the net (a goal)
Would have entered the net if it hadn’t been stopped by the goalkeeper
Would have entered the net if a defender hadn’t acted as the last line of defense to block it

Good, because I was painfully envisioning the USA winning the dam game by ten goals, but losing the bet. USA scores one dam goal, I automatically win the bet.

The only way I could watch a complete soccer game from start to finish would be if I had a bet on it.

Many years ago, I tried a few times to watch it. And I could see the various strategies behind the game. However after around five minutes, I just couldn't take it any longer.

Oh there is zero chance I'll watch a second of it

I will check the score at 1am when I wake up to go the bathroom

curious -- any of you guys play soccer growing up?

i never watch it until the world cup rolls around, and when it does i'll make it a point to watch USA games from beginning to end. and if i happen to catch two other countries playing, i can easily get mesmerized. and that's because i played for 10+ years, starting when i was a kid. it's very similar to golf, really, in that so many people think the televised version is the cure for insomnia. but, if you play (or played) it, it's much different for many.

the lack of scoring is what turns a lot of people off, and i get that. i want to see goals as much as the next person does. but for me it's the passing, the precision, the angles, and the flat-out athleticism that leads to the scoring opportunities. those dudes are ridiculously fit, flying around a huge field for 90 minutes. and even though goals aren't plentiful in the eyes of most, some of the them are pretty sublime in nature when they do occur. think about corner kicks. we're talking about jumping as high as you can in sea of people attempting to use your head to redirect a missile into the net. when it's perfectly executed, it's often times very impressive.........and worth the wait.

I hated playing soccer in gym class. The only strategy consisted of 5 ten year old boys surrounding the soccer ball and kicking as hard as we could. The last one standing who hadn’t dropped to the ground in excruciating pain from being repeatedly kicked in the shins ended up in possession of the ball. 😩

my book has some cool promotions. i've talked about the VIP system before. when i reach Diamond II status i should have a wad of cash awaiting me............because i've lost thousands. lol i just checked and i'm at 38.5% to reach it. all of the gambling losing i've done and i'm not even 4/10 of the freaking way there.

in the meantime, here's another cool one. it's only 48$ (4 bucks every 6 hours), but hey, a free 48 is a free 48. goes to show how popular soccer is. they don't do stuff like this during the NFL season lol

they also dish out weekly & monthly cash boosts (contingent on your wins/losses, of course)

I played football in grades 7 thru 12. In our view, soccer players were those who weren't good enough to play football. Yes we were ignorant brats for thinking that way, as most high school boys are.

One time in gym class being "forced" to play soccer, a kid with the ball tried to get past me. So out of instinct, I tackled him hard. The gym class teacher got really mad at me. Just kidding of course. 😂

All i ask is not to get tortured with this 10000 profit boost mortal lock bet. Just get it over with quickly. Take a stinkin' shot on goal early for crying out loud. Please don't let this go down to the last minute of the dam game, with no shots on goal, and I'm sitting there in agony. I'm begging ya, whoever is in charge of this, don't do it to me. 😨

i'm guessing, probably an easy guess, that the World Cup, probably by far, is the most bet sporting event in the world, considering the popularity of soccer worldwide.

So I guess it shouldn't be any surprise that these websites are offering all sorts of "goodies" during this event. I'd also have to think that the whales betting the World Cup, might dwarf the whales betting the Super Bowl.

Not that hard to envision how to handicap it. Look for some masterful ball handling rabbits, and some superb ball stopping goalies, and you've probably got yourself a solid bet. Probably at short odds, but if the math is there, perhaps it could be profitable?

    Current odds:
    USA +105
    Paraguay +310
    Draw +220

So obviously if ya bet either team, and if there's a draw, you lose.

At the "statistics" button, it includes shots on goal. I'll be keeping a sharp eye on that one. But also hope Perk gets there with the game score.

sorry, didn't know about the registration. the article devised a method of determining the winner based on past history. it basically says that one of these 5 teams will win:

    Argentina, Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain

So my niece is in Chicago at the Dodgers-White Sox game. I told her to get several pictures of Ohtani, then I checked the lineup and he’s not playing. Turns out she didn’t know who he is anyway. 😂
She’s keeping me updated.. she just texted the Sox just got 7 points in this one inning. I hate to tell her they’re called runs not points.

I think SA regroups at home, this could go. 7 games

SA is doing it to themselves, if they can just stop shooting themselves in the foot

I think some who are already anointing the Knicks as champions, and they may turn out to be right, are forgetting that this series could easily be Spurs leading 3-1 right now. They are also forgetting that the Spurs knocked off the reigning champs OKC.

I'm just taking it one game at a time as far as the wagering is concerned. In my opinion, the Spurs ML tonight is a pretty good value. I may play that, along with some props that have been hitting for me quite nicely this entire series.

BTW - that is a dam good looking soccer card. Frankly, I can't stand some of these modern cards with the ultra shiny glitz, and sparkles, and all that silly chit. Seems to me like entertainment for a two year old. I prefer a well designed, classy looking card such as that one.

If the Knicks win this game, well then my hats off to them. But I just don't see the Spurs quitting here.

I'm going with the Spurs ML, and some assorted 3's props and Wemby props.

Decided on no Wemby full game props. I think if the game gets away from either team, Wemby will sit, and perhaps not get the minutes needed for the props to hit.

I might play some Wemby 1Q props, still thinking about it.

Does anyone know the UFC? The book is offering me more heroin again. Not one, but two fat 50% profit boosts on tomorrow's matches.

Odds gotta be -200 or longer, IE say -100, or a +number, for the boost to work.

Gotta play something, odds in my favor. If nobody knows, I'll just play two random matches.

    Tickled a Wemby prop, 1Q 4+ points.

If the past games are any indication, the Knicks, being behind in the first quarter, have the Spurs right where they want them.

Spurs have won the 1st Q handily, in five straight games. Caught three of them, including tonight. Caught a Wemby prop, and a 3 prop. Not quite there yet for a free roll on the Spurs ML but getting close.

Sitting pretty right now, but of course it's the NBA, luck can turn on a dime.

Knicks already closing the gap. Brunson red hot. Luckily so far for the Spurs, no other Knicks player is.

If I was the Spurs coach, I'd put 5 players defending Brunson, and hope the others miss layups. 😐

Spurs seem to get into ruts, whereby for three or so minutes they just can't hit a shot.

I'm not "unhappy" with a five point lead at halftime, but I'm close to opening up the bottle of nitroglycerin pills.
