The last minute of game 2 took a REALLY lot out of the Spurs.

I may be wrong but based on this year's performances by Scottie I'm getting the sense that he may have peaked out. That's not to say he won't win again, but to duplicate the run he had for the last 2-3 years seems unlikely. To me he has taken on a Koepka,Speith type of persona. Both had their runs then settled into a slightly better than average performer. Just not elite. Many of his events this year he digs himself in a hole early whereas in the past he stated strong and was strong throughout.
As Steve likes to say "we shall see".

this morning i told myself that i needed a 68 today (4-under). standing on 11 tee box -- a par-5 birdie opportunity -- Aberg was halfway there. then, the other shoe dropped from the sky. bogey on 11 (L), triple bogey on 12 (O), bogey on 13 (L).

this week's field consisted of 72 players. if someone had given me 72 picks, J.T. Poston would have been one of my last. get this: this is his 14th tournament of the year. prior to this week, he hadn't finished in the top 20 a single time. and he's winning the effing Memorial as i type this.

i can't take betting on golf anymore. i'm officially waving the white flag. 🏳️

next wager for me: NFL week 1

On any other planet with intelligent life in this universe, and I happen to believe it's fact there are many of them. However on none of those planets would this be possible. Some sports on this particular planet seem to defy the laws of physics. 😵

I’m going to watch the final round of the women’s open to see if Nelly can take it down. She started with a 73 which put her way behind and then followed with 67 on Friday and Saturday to put her in a tie for the lead. She has a beautiful golf swing and I’ve heard even pga players have said she has the best swing in golf.

You guys struggle so much with golf and you just ignore the fact that Nelly Korda has entered 8 tournaments this year, won 4 of them and worst finish is tied for 8th. Top ten 100% of the time. I don’t bet on sports much because I don’t have an online account but if I did I sure wouldn’t ignore those numbers.

Spurs have been hitting 3's like gangbusters. Previous game, every starter hit at least two 3's. I hit this prop nicely the first two games. Will play it again tonight.

Not sure about the game score. The value seems to be with the Spurs, but it's tough to bet against this Knicks win streak.

This streak wouldn't have been much of surprise with those great Celtics and Bulls teams. But this Knicks team? Quite amazing.

The interesting thing is this Spurs team has shown heart the entire season, including eliminating OKC. I doubt if many envisioned the Knicks being 2-0 right now. That being said, I can't see the Spurs quitting on themselves. I'm sure they would enjoy getting payback for being beat two straight games in their house, and would love to return the favor tonight. We shall see if it happens.

Steve, who are you going with?
You’ve got guts if you take the Spurs moneyline or points. It would be so difficult to go with them after losing 2 straight at home.
They will be motivated but so will the knicks because they smell blood in the water. Really tough call and I hope you win your bets.

Thank you Darin! I think your analysis of the game is spot on. Usually this might be a good opportunity for a rebound game from the Spurs. However this Knicks team is so red hot, they seem to defy any reasonable handicapping logic and just keep winning.

I'm probably going to pass on the game score. Just too much uncertainty there in my view, and focus on the player props. Been doing very well with the 3's props from the Spurs. So I'll likely stick with that.

no team in NBA history has lost the first two games at home and come back to win the title

i think there's a decent chance the Spurs get swept

zero chance they win 4 games

    think about it logically

no team has lost the first 2 at home and won the title

    the Spurs just did

now they're faced with beating a team that has won 13 in a row..........14 of 16 (with those two losses by a combined 2 points).........4 times with only 4 or 5 (max) tries remaining

those odds aren't nearly short enough imo

I think what makes it even more interesting, is in both games, the Spurs came storming out of the gate, and each time won the first quarter handily. You'd think both times at home, and as a favorite, the Spurs would have at least won one of those games.

Another interesting point. The Knicks are doing all this with none of their players even receiving a single first place vote for MVP. None even in the top eight.

Books usually grab a lot of juice on an offered wager such as this. Perhaps should be +2500. But the books figure anyone placing a bet such as this, is going to play it just as readily at +1800 as +2500. Hate to say it, but the books are right.

Same pattern in each game. Spurs take a decent lead in the first quarter, and after that the Knicks come storming back.

Wanted to get this viewpoint in earlier on tonight's game. Much is said about the pressure to win on the Spurs. Yes.
But the Knicks have some as well. Up 2-0 you don't want to start losing. And they are at home with immense hometown fans pressure expecting a win. This is New York. And the fans want it all. Waiting 53 years. Now they have to finish it thereby pressure comes from that.

In 1983, Moses Malone predicted "fo fo fo." Slang meaning four for four, which the Sixers did in the playoffs when the Sixers won the title. That team, which included Dr J, was so dam good, nobody really doubted it. I only bring it up because when great teams, and for one season that Sixers team was no doubt a great team, winning streaks can continue.

I'm by no means a NBA historian, but I would imagine that possibly some of those great teams of the past, Celtics, Bulls, Lakers. etc, may have had similar winning streaks or close to it. However these teams had one or more future hall of famers, and success was expected. Whereby this Knicks team, as the previously listed chart shows, didn't even have a player in the top eight, in the MVP voting this season.

No predictions, but when a team like this Knicks team, which wasn't expected to have extraordinary success such as this, when the streak gets broken, it's not unusual for that team to decline rapidly and fall back to reality. I've seen it before in all sports.

We shall see what happens, but if the Knicks now happen to lose this series, it wouldn't be any big surprise to me.

The Spurs collapsed after a big lead game 1

They lost by 1 point game 2

This is not the recipe of one team dominating, the hype with NY was at a fever pitch and the Spurs were all but chalked up as losers

Then game 3 was actually played

Spurs are the better team imo

Still think pressure on Knicks. Spurs win on one of the biggest NBA stages,if not the biggest, and they feel we can win this. Momentum switch. Lot of heart by Spurs last night.
