My Toned Morgan Collection (30/31 have not been graded) - 5 years of collecting

Pretty much all of these are not graded (NG), however definitely considering sending a lot of them in to get graded. Would love to hear which ones are your favorite and which ones you think I should consider getting slabbed. All of these coins were purchased over the last 5 years only paying a slight premium over BU value at the time of purchase. All purchased through reputable dealer, so I'm not really concerned about whether they're legitimate. For each of the 31coins included in this post I have provided both obverse and reverse pictures (the pictures really don't do them justice IMO). Let me know what you think and if you have any feedback/comments/suggestions! Hope you enjoy.

As a photographer (Tom, not me), he is commenting on your lighting "technique".

That's an awful lot of poorly lit Morgans to sit there and scroll through for someone who's not a Morgan fanatic. They seemed nice enough given you paid what is now probably under melt.

It means your images are far too bright to make meaningful interpretations.

    Ditto.

Off the chart contrast as well.

I stopped looking after 7 or 8 coins. Sorry.

  • Took them using a magnifier hooked up to my computer. The camera has lights to focus to where camera points, but maybe that is not the best way to take the photos? The background room lights are turned off to prevent contrast.

As mentioned many of your photos are too bright and it makes it difficult to assess the surfaces or get any real idea of the luster or PL. But from these photos only I do not see any of the coins you have marked as PL grading PL. One or two appear one sided PL but you have to have PL on both sides to qualify. There are also a couple that seem to have questionable color, all of these opinions might change with different photos or if seen in hand. As an example if you want opinions from photos you need to present photos with good even lighting, such as these examples. These photos were taken for me by a fellow that specializes in coin photography, Mr. Mark Goodman. The 1881 is in an NGC holder, the 1887 is raw/ungraded.

A good rule of thumb is to look at your photos on your own device before sharing them. If it is difficult for you to interpret the images on your own device then it is guaranteed to be near impossible for someone else interpret them.

Since these seem to be on the lower end of uncirculated for the most part, grading would not increase their value by a whole lot. That said, if you just want your best toners in slabs, these are the ones to submit: 10, 18, 21, 22, 23, 25.
12, 16, 20, 24, and 28 look nice but not quite "get graded" nice.
    Other remarks:
Coin 14 is for sure artificially toned, coins 7 and 19 look like they might be as well.
Coin 17 has strange toning. It's hard to determine if the toning is real from the photo.
    Coin 27 looks lightly circulated.
