Purchasing a gorgeous 1817 R Brazil 960 Reis from John Agre last fall in Baltimore and subsequently buying David Andre Levy’s excellent book on the series has propelled me pretty far into the rabbit hole.
Frankly this looks to be one of the uglier coins I’ve ever purchased in my adult life……but I love the pronouncement/obviousness of the undertype. First sun face I’ve come across and excited to have it in my undertype collection.

I really do not recall seeing one as well defined as this.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
That over strike is awesome.
Love all the sun face coins, they make a nice themed set. Cool undertype.
That’s pretty cool!
My current "Box of 20"
Very cool. Coolest undertype I can recall seeing for some time.
This is my only sunface. (Yeah, not the same sorta thing, I know.)
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
Just got crossover results.
Now PC 55 (which I 100% agree with fwiw)
……while PCGS downgraded the coin above from 58 ti 55 and I fully agreed with it, this coin was upgraded from NGC 58 to PC 61.
This one I frankly didnt agree with as much. It’s a great coin and I get the upgrade but a 61 to me suggests problems. Would’ve much rather seen a 58+ as I do think it’s a top end AU rather than a low end UNC. I genuinely stay away from purchasing coins in 61 holders unless it’s a coin I think belongs in a 58 holder and would benefit from residing in one.
I’ll be eager to get this one back in hand to study and see if I missed anything glaring. Curious as to the boards’ thoughts if anyone has an opinion based on the true views, which I think turned out well for this one.
