I made a point to be on the ATS page at 7:29 and kept refreshing over the 7:30-7:31 period and it stayed at ZERO so none came back into inventory today.
nothing this morning except the congratulation set again

This looks like a neat coin. I will admit that I tried to buy one to flip, not keep. The process is ridiculous, though, and I feel worse and worse about the US Mint after each one of these new releases. I am on the site 10 minutes early, hit refresh right at noon and get placed in a waiting room that tells me only 1 minute wait, only to see if take 2.5 minutes and then none available. I do not believe that there are 6000 unique people logging in at 12 on the dot to spend $5400. In fact, we know that is not the case because certain people brag about getting 3 or getting 15, whatever. It's all using bots or circumventing the rules. Even though it was also my intention to flip, I feel bad for the collectors who wanted to buy one and were shut out due to this stupid process that the US Mint employs and the dishonest people getting 15 using bots. I think it's one thing to have multiple accounts and send to family members, but another to use bots that operate at record speed shutting everyone else out.

So, on the one hand you were going to flip it, not keep, to potentially/probably shut out a collector who wanted to buy one.
And on the other hand you feel bad for the collectors who wanted to buy one and were shut out.....

I'm in the "keeper camp", and I couldn't agree with you more. Many others like me (who want it for their collection) don't even try anymore. How do you beat a bot ordering 15 coins in a few seconds unless you join that same crowd? It takes luck and some fortunate timing to score something like this. let's hope the Best of the Mint series doesn't go this same way.

Ok.
You don't see the difference between buying one to flip and buying 15/not following the rules? I think the difference is very clear. Unfortunately, I think most people who bought one (or more than one) intended to flip it.

I dont have an issue with those that get out there at the opening of sales and use the regular methods to order a coin.
Whatever you do with that coin is your business.
I do have an issue with those who use bots or any other automation to gain an upper hand - fair is fair guys - lets hope the folks trying to secure 15 via a bot have their orders promptly cancelled.
On another note - I do think that the "flipper" community has expanded greatly - those who have no clue of what they are buying.......just buying for the flip.
Usually, somewhere down the road they get caught in "what was supposed to be an easy flip" and get stuck with the merch and the bill. Boo hoo.

That looks to be the case with the half dollar and some of the final 20,000 Congrats sets.

It sounds like everyone who refreshed at noon exactly got one. Is that correct? Did anyone get shut out?
Lots of people got shut out because, if their timing was off, they were placed in the waiting room and didn't get out in 2 minutes. Again, you didn't want this yesterday. What changed? FOMO?
FOMO!
My thought was to get one economy and see what happened. If it was hot, I'd take it. If not, I'd cancel via a phone call. I was more excited until I saw the pic where it looked like an RP.
I don't know how "economy" matters. That doesn't change when it leaves the Mint, especially when there's only a few thousand to ship.
Not true. Everything has already left the Mint, and is sitting in Dallas waiting to be shipped. Overnight goes first, followed by the other stuff.
Yes, if it's only 4K items, they might all go the same day. But overnight will arrive tomorrow. Nothing else will, unless you live in the Dallas metro area.
Sigh, and you know this how? Yes, they MAY all be in Dallas or Memphis - did anyone get shipping notification yet? If not, then they aren't all in Dallas or Memphis yet.
As for economy vs overnight: The one time I paid for overnight, it took 5 days to ship. When I called the Mint, they said there was no guarantee that the overnight leaves the Mint faster than economy, only that the delivery service would be faster. As a result, I've never paid for overnight again.
I know this because all of my stuff always comes from Irving, TX, and because the one time I hit Express by mistake I had it the next day, while Economy usually takes around a week to get to me once they ship. Memphis was a bazillion years ago when they used a different fulfillment company.
The point was not Dallas or Memphis. The point is that they may not
be there yet. You're assuming they are. There have been several releases this year where the coins were not ready to ship immediately.

Honestly, I BEG you not to torture yourself doing this every morning for the next few weeks. There will be so few that it will only lead to frustration if you try.

Not sure how relevant this is being that it's unavailable anyway, but it's 12:30pm and the HHL is still there.
Does this happen often?
It does NOT happen often, and is a sign that they very well might have only released 6K yesterday, with plans to release another 1500, and that they want to keep the HHL in place until they give people who missed out another shot.
That, or they are going to cancel bot orders, or others that otherwise exceeded the HHL, and they are going to wait until after they put those back on sale before lifting the HHL. They did that last year with the ASE army privy coin.

Correct. They justify what they do, and vilify anything that prevents them from doing it.
That said, there is no denying that the bots take the common practice of a few friends and family accounts to a whole new level.

Not legit at all. Multiple accounts require the same keystrokes to acquire the coins - as fast as humanly possible.
At least you have a chance.
BOTS take that speed to another level all together. You have no chance if this becomes widespread.
Think about it - the Enhanced Gold Eagle was available less than 2 mins. A BOT was able to place 15 orders in less than 2 minutes.

Speed limit need not apply - for HUMAN keystrokes. If youre fast - then so be it. But you'll never be as fast as the machine.....15 orders successfully placed in under two minutes.
Dude, you're also using a machine. You're probably also using scripts to log in.
And it is an opinion, no matter what you call it. What is ethically wrong with placing my one and only HHL of 1 with a bot? Absolutely nothing in my opinion. .er...I mean fact. It's a FACT that there's nothing wrong with it. It just let's me buy one when I'm busy at work.
Not an opinion - its FACT. It's surprising you dont see it that way and that's why we are in this predicament.
Ethically it's wrong. You are using a tool to gain an advantage over human keystrokes - why not just do it like anyone else?
We all work - I have the time to take 5 mins out at lunchtime during work? Why dont you?
The USM Terms:
the U.S. Mint strictly prohibits the use of automated purchasing software, technological solutions, and web robots (bots) by both retail and bulk customers
That was hypothetical. I don't have a bot. Yet.
Yes, it's the Mint policy, ever since the site crashed in 2020 when the bots overwhelmed it. And if you want to call it unethical because of the policy, fine. It's a fact that it violates the policy. But I don't think there's anything wrong (ethically) with bots as tools.
People think I'm judgy, for some reason, but I don't really care if people send one to their brother's house or use a bot. I'm an anarchist at heart.

Ehh. I hate the bots as much as anyone else, but all you are saying is that "it's one thing" to do what you are comfortable with ("have multiple accounts and send to family members"), but another to do what benefits someone else. It's all cheating.
Or it's all legitimate.
OR, bots are not cheating and multiple accounts are.
People are never really consistent on their situational ethics.
Correct. They justify what they do, and vilify anything that prevents them from doing it.
That said, there is no denying that the bots take the common practice of a few friends and family accounts to a whole new level.
Or they don't. If I use a bit to buy my HHL of 1, there really shouldn't be a problem with that. I've just automated the purchase.
I understand. That's not what I'm saying.
What I'm saying is that someone who thinks it's okay to bypass the HHL by using F&F to buy 5 has a big problem with someone using a bot to buy 15, because that bot might prevent them from getting their 5.
I have a problem with all of it. No one is using a bot to only buy 1. So your argument is interesting, but, like most of them, is only theoretical and tantamount to arguing about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

And it's not as theoretical as you think. (Why did you have to go all the way to a borderline insult, when we were getting along so well?) I could use a script to automate ordering. Some people on here may already be doing it that way. You don't have to be using a commercial bot to purchase.
They are actually pretty cheap to rent, by the way. I don't know if you can just rent one for a week or month, though.

I shouldn’t be surprised with no HHL. I wonder if this was remaining inventory or a return of failed BOT purchases.
1370 out of 4K is an insane percentage, so I just can't believe the vast majority of them were Mint cancellations. My money is on them being the missing 1500 from the original 7500, since others here speculated that only 6K were initially made available to APPB and us on Thursday. If so, I'll bet most of them went out the back door to dealers this morning, rather than 1370 going to retail in 37 seconds this morning with no limit.

Because you are being professorial in arguing every angle in order to stimulate a debate. Bots are qualitatively different from manual ordering.
So the fact that buying 1 with a bot is technically in compliance with the HHL while using using F&F to manually buy 5 is not, that is not what bots are used for, and you know it. Bots are used by buying club members to buy hundreds, all for the beneficial ownership of the buying club. Not for the individual members obeying marching orders in return for $50 and airline miles.
As a result, you can argue all you want, but they are both bad, and one is far, far worse than the other.

It did but only for a second. I've always wondered if actual orders get completed by bots when that happens because no human do it in that time.
Nada
I made a point to be on the ATS page at 7:29 and kept refreshing over the 7:30-7:31 period and it stayed at ZERO so none came back into inventory today.
Wow. I refreshed constantly & never saw it. I wonder how many?
I was not looking to buy, but just wanted to see.
I need a bot for future issues. No idea how people set them up.

So, on the one hand you were going to flip it, not keep, to potentially/probably shut out a collector who wanted to buy one.
And on the other hand you feel bad for the collectors who wanted to buy one and were shut out.....
Ok.
That one second blimp is part of the system update and refresh process. It does not necessarily mean there was any available.
Correct. I'm assuming they are there.
HHL is now at zero.
correction....HHL now at none

Regarding the appearance: My personal opinion is that it does not look 'exactly' like reverse proof at all.
The fields have a unique finish and the devices are not truly 'polished-mirror' finish.
Thank you for that picture !

Source for this bit of (rumor) information? THX
You have no chance at all.
The US Mint. That's when they started the reforms on the website. I'll try to find the original article.

As I've said several times this year, the releases used to be "hotter".

Or not. That's your opinion, not a fact. There is an HHL of 1. There is not a speed limit. So if I buy one and only one using a bot, that is arguably more ethical than manually bypassing the HHL of 1 with multiple accounts.
EVERYONE could use a bot if they wanted to, by the way. Even you.
I bet 90% of people who keep raving about bots, don't even know what they are.

Time to get serious about this traffic and ban the users. Look for payment card similarities and shipping addresses linked to unusual traffic. You cant just rely on looking at IP addresses anymore .
I shouldn’t be surprised with no HHL. I wonder if this was remaining inventory or a return of failed BOT purchases.
could be a return of inventory for cancelled purchases - cancelled by USM by trying to evade HHL rules.
