One of these days I’m going through that entire boxing thread and making sure all of them are great photos. I mean they can’t all be great!
We should be betting on after we make a post how long it takes before that thread is at the top again. I swear my posts average 40 seconds before he has to be on top again.

but it's a breath of fresh air compared to what was happening with him prior to the creation of that thread. he's just minding his own business & doing his thing now. i could never pour in the time and effort to do something similar, nor would i even want to. but i certainly have an appreciation for it.

    Agreed

Not to mention It's probably the best source of boxing information in the entire internet

just showing you one of her bigger wins, which she no doubt spent more than to make happen. but that part you don't see, which is why i don't like her as much as others we have mentioned who provide no misconceptions of gambling life. someone who has never wagered a dime before yet watches all of her videos would think it's the most glamorous lifestyle imaginable. until they try to do what she does.

One thing I did find a bit strange, and don't need a response. But it seems like the casino paid her the full amount. I thought for a hit such as this, the IRS requires casinos to withhold 24%? Admittedly, I may have a misunderstanding of the IRS rules.

I didn’t watch the video to see what game she won at, but I’ve been told at table games the payout on a win has to be 500-1 or higher before they withhold any money. And once I saw a guy get the royal flush at UTH, was playing the progressive, would have won 2.5k but didn’t get paid because he owed the state of Kansas back taxes.
When I won the 12.5k bad beat at poker they didn’t take any out, they do paper work so they make the irs aware of it, and I may have even gotten a 1040 from the casino. Definitely paid taxes on it I’m not about to mess with the irs.

Edit…. Sorry 1040 isn’t what I meant, I don’t know if I’m thinking of W2 form or something else the casino sends. I’ll try to find it.

That's a real hisser for that guy. Probably badly needed that 2.5k, IE pay back rent, car payments or whatever. He's happy, got 2.5k coming, get some breathing room, but the state pulls the rug right out from under him. Couldn't they a least throw him a bone and let him keep a thousand or so for crying out loud?

I couldn’t figure that guy out. Older, retired guy, always came in with his wife. They didn’t seem to be hurting for money. I didn’t feel bad for him he should be paying his fair share like the rest of us do. The funny thing is Boot Hill casino is owned by the State of Kansas so they’re going to get what’s owed them before approving any big payouts.

I hope it’s a good game and the Spurs win tonight. It’s been so depressing watching the Royals who just got slaughtered by the Yankees 3 straight games. I need something exciting to happen in the sports world!

    I decided to abstain.

Game was just way too tough.

  • BLUEJAYWAYBLUEJAYWAY Posts: 11,521 ✭✭✭✭✭

My betting action today consists of my $5 bets on golf, usually for top 10 or 20 placing. Horses:$1 W.P. or S. bets. An occasional $1 Ex box. No triples. I think I may of bet 1-2 triples in my life. No lottery plays. Nascar $5 bets on usually top 5 or 10 placing in a big race. No baseball bets. NBA just the finals. Which brings us to the NFL. I do like my $5 parlays each week.
No poker. I learned my lesson playing for .25 with my girlfriend. Took me out. So that was that. Never played poker in a casino. Speaking of her we enjoy golf, nascar football watching together. She does not bet, only at a casino. She has hit a few decent scores over the years. When she hits she quits even if she hits when we first arrive she goes off to read her books. We both take $200.00 to play (lose). Once gone that's it no ATM. Enjoy a meal and get away for awhile. She is responsible for the balance in the betting arena. And I thank her for that.
One more thing. Gone are the days of handicapping horses. This ever since 7 years ago I hunched bet our cats name and his nickname in an exacta box for $1 and $2wps on his name proper. Harness track up in Canada. Horse went off 75-1. Got half $210.00 of the exacta for my $1 box and $220.00 on my combo ticket $430.00 for my $8. No more hancicapping anymore. Strickley hunched since then. Best hit I ever had considering the initial bet.
    Thanks Rusty.
My late Uncle used to say "got to have a LITTLE action". Always remembered the words "little action". He was a $2 bettor as well.

Very glad I abstained from this game, or I'd be posting right now using the computer from the local homeless shelter. Both Wemby and SGA, PRA props, didn't get there again. SGA didn't even come close, and Wemby just missed because of the dreaded "star gets pulled because it's a blowout", and so didn't get the necessary minutes to complete the props.

OKC opened -4.5 for Saturday's final. I'll more than likely pass on that one as well. Perhaps see if the upcoming finals with the Knicks offers any opportunities? If not, I'll probably just tickle some MLB games over the summer, and save the rest for football season, which isn't all that far away.

  • BLUEJAYWAYBLUEJAYWAY Posts: 11,521 ✭✭✭✭✭

Another betting dilemma. Have a home court edge for OKC. Have a previous game blowout by the Spurs. Viewpoint split right down the middle.
Hopefully either team who makes it to the Finals provides a thrilling series with the Knicks. Madison Square Garden will be electric. Celebs will abound like the first Ali/Frazier fight.

In my opinion, there are two wagering scenarios for this 7th game:
    1. Bet OKC. After being blown-out two days ago, the hissed off Thunder, the defending champs and still an excellent basketball team, rises to the occasion, defeats the Spurs and moves on to the finals.
    2. Bet San Antonio. A changing of the guard. Every championship team in the history of sports, eventually gets to the point, for any number of reasons, whereby another team surpasses them. Spurs show indication of doing that.

Now armed with all that inciteful information, take a quarter out of your pocket and call heads or tails. LOL

Believe it or not, no sitting US president has ever attended a NBA finals game.

But especially since he is a Knicks fan, President Trump has said he may attend at least one Knicks home game.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 32,034 ✭✭✭✭✭

Another non-bet for which I am thankful. Back when it seemed like a mortal lock that OKC would easily win it all. I did consider placing a sizable bet on them. Somewhere around low four figures.

I'd sure hate to be sitting on that bet right now. Yes, OKC can of course still get there. However they now must win on Saturday at only -4.5. Then proceed to beat the Knicks, who seem to be very motivated, very hungry, and will be better rested.

I would have needed to order the gallon size jar of nitroglycerin pills. 💊

it's been a weird series. if you tell people that it's going to a G7, they probably think it's been nothing short of epic to that point. but it really hasn't. outside of G1, there hasn't been a truly competitive, scintillating game. no outcome within 7 points thru 6 games, and most have been blowouts.

my take is that injuries are taking such a toll on these teams that they are conserving health and energy any chance they get. win our games at home and try to reach game 7 with everyone available seems to be the strategy. in the last three games, the road team has waved the white flag well before the game ended. the moment they saw the handwriting on the wall, they let up off the gas and protected their stars.

hopefully game 7 will be the one. all hands on deck, everything to play for. similar to what i said prior to G1, heart says Spurs, head says Thunder. no offense to the reigning 2-time MVP, but you know damn well that the NBA wants that pterodactyl in the finals. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I think the kid will probably eventually get invited to a NFL camp to see what he's got. At the least he could serve as cannon fodder during the camp.

He'd better look extremely good, or I doubt he rosters. That betting against his team is going to stick in the mind of any GM.

I can't recall another game as tough to handicap as this one. Everyone has their own handicapping style including me. I sort of like to get a grip on something obvious, and then expend some thought as to how it will affect the score one way or the other.

I just can't seem to get a grip on anything in this game. I've never seen such inconsistencies among virtually every player.

I mean take SGA as an example. With threes he shoots 0-5 in his last game. How can a MVP guard shoot that poorly in such a key game? So do ya handicap it that he will return to form in this game? If he does and the Thunder gets off to a good start with the lead, they may be tough to catch. If SGA can't hit chit, it could be a long night for OKC.

Probably leaning towards a pass. If I don't feel I have an edge, then I don't bet. Just can't see anything here even close to having an edge. IE no value, no bet. Flipping coins against a house edge doesn't interest me. Might as well go to the stinking casino and play the brain dead game of roulette. Maybe the casino will "generously" comp ya a chicken dinner that in reality cost ya $500.

  • DarinDarin Posts: 7,682 ✭✭✭✭✭

The home team has won 4 of the 6 games including the last three so I would lean towards the Thunder. But both teams have won in the others arena.
This actually feels like the NBA finals. I don’t even have much interest in watching the championship series but I’m not missing this game tonight. 🥳
