That I cannot confirm. I am not sure if the Mint pages automatically refresh for you and give you the red order button or not. Try the Wish list on the next non-120 second sellout item and see how it works for you. I know you were o the fence on this one, but it sucks that you got shut out.

Indeed, in the end, I figured I would order one and do economy shipping, so I'd see how it went & if I wanted it I could keep it , otherwise I could cancel , but I was trying to get one.

I thought it would be no problem , but I did not realize you had to refresh for it to turn red because before i've just ended up in the waiting room and bought from there.

    Tough lesson to learn.

Sucks to get shut out by a bunch of buyers club people shooting for credit card points and fifty bucks.

Wish I knew how to use a bot.

OTOH, and please don't take this the wrong way, but you aren't that different. You didn't really like the coin yesterday, and only want it now to "see how it went & if I wanted it I could keep it , otherwise I could cancel , but I was trying to get one," because you thought there might be money to be made. Not because you suddenly fell in love with the coin. Just like the buyers club people.

    NY had my number.

I sucked it up and bought a PCGS SP70 First Day

In the end, it was about $1500 more than the Mint. It woukd cost me $300+ to grade, a 70 is not assured and I don't thjnk I could get that label.

    Selling an HR today.

Wonder what 0730 tomorrow will look like

I honestly don't think you should chase something you don't really like. The UHR is a MUCH nicer coin, even though it has a far higher mintage. There are going to be PLENTY of things to chase this year. Most of which you are sure to like far more than this.

7:30 tomorrow is going to come and go in a flash. Some people will get them in carts, but, by definition, practically no one will actually be able to buy one.

Please see my post and let me know how it went for you.

I logged in at 8 minutes prior to noon and had no issue. Surfed around the site a bit and went to my Wish list. Refreshed twice at noon and it was available. Easy checkout and waiting my confirmation email Got the acknowledgement of order with order number.

So odd how our experience was different yet we did the same thing yet I was sent to the waiting room

Did u wait to see it it would turn at noon or refresh right at noon?

Your timing was just off. Likely by mere seconds, given all the likely bot action.

The drop in ATS was incredible. After my order I went to check ATS and every few seconds that I refreshed that page it dropped by 1,000 (give or take)

People like to villainize and blame the bots and I do think they are a factor in the 7:30am drops. But based on how the ats number dropped, there was not a lot of "bot action" today. The ats number dropped pretty slowly for the first 30 seconds, then it accelerated which is about the time it takes the average person to click their way through a purchase. If bots really were a problem I would have expected a very fast drop in quantity in the first 10 seconds and we really didn't see that.

    SOLD OUT before 12:02

I DID tell everyone. I said under 5 minutes. 2 minutes is probably a new record.

With no lag and and no waiting room. They cleared scaled their capacity to process orders.

NOTE...this is an attempt at humor.......*****

You DID say 5 minutes, so I guess WRONG again! LOL

Seriously though, have we ever seen an under 2 minute sellout?

No. See my post above. This has to be a reflection of their increasing their capacity to process orders. Because I don't think they were ever able to process over 2K individual orders per minute.

The question now is whether or not they will cancel bot orders. Because no waiting room, and 4K orders being processed in less than 2 minutes, means plenty of bots were probably involved.

And, I said LESS THAN 5 minutes, so not wrong! :)

But seriously, no one has ever seen anything go in less than 2 minutes. It's all the buyer clubs.

Because, while these are "special" due to the finish, dual dating and privy, it is STILL 2.5x the quantity sold in each of the past 2 years. And due to the recent price action of gold, the premium is probably an all time high at over $1,000 per ounce.

They would have sold out anyway, but not nearly this fast if not for all the non-collectors slamming the site to collect their $50 and airline miles. Especially after the mintage went from 6K to 7500. OTOH, holding back 3500 from public sale certainly helped accelerate the sell out.

They have long been able to process 2000 orders per minute. 2 minutes may be a record, but that's more about the small supply than the> @NJCoin said:

There is no reason to cancel bot orders. The limit was one. Why would they care if someone executed the purchase by hand or automated? There is no prohibition on using automation to place an order. The limit is per household.

I believe in the past that they have. Period.

The "prohibition" is that they reserve the right to reject any order for any reason, and that they believe automation gives an unfair advantage to people who use it. To the extent they also believe buyers clubs and others are using proxies using bots, that would be a violation of the HHL, and another reason to cancel orders.

Not saying that they will. Just saying that they can. And that they have in the past.

If they didn't care about being fair, they could just sell them all to Big Mike and be done with it. Very efficient distribution, to the extent you and @jmlanzaf care about such things.

I don't know when I ever said that, but thanks for thinking of me!

My pleasure! You know I am obsessed with you! :)

All kidding aside, I confused you with another poster, although I'm sure you also have no problem with Big Boys getting priority.

Unknowable, but unlikely. The numbers are way too small here for them to be intentionally holding back 1500 to make later.

The "other items" were 40K vs. 60K, which is also small, and 500K vs. 300K. Not 6K vs. 7.5K. These are very likely done.

Today's quick sellout was of 3980 coins available thru the Mint website.

Except, there really wasn't "all of us madly typing." Plus we have the screenshot with the 15 credit card charges.

"All of us" is a few hundred people. On this forum, a few dozen. Not 4K.

A few days ago, before we learned about the buyers clubs and the 4K ATS, we all thought, with the increased mintage that this would take hours to sell out, if at all. 2 minutes is buyers clubs, and 15 completed transactions in less than 2 minutes is bots.

It does make sense that in theory, if we had 2500 people or so starting out at noon and completing their purchases, that we would see quick drops. However, the offers from the Buyer's Clubs were out there, and we have a screenshot to prove that someone was able to snag 15 of them quickly, so there could have (and probably was) more than a handful of those types, too. Only the Mint knows for sure, but they won't be letting us know....that much is for sure.

Lots of people got shut out because, if their timing was off, they were placed in the waiting room and didn't get out in 2 minutes. Again, you didn't want this yesterday. What changed? FOMO?

    FOMO!

My thought was to get one economy and see what happened. If it was hot, I'd take it. If not, I'd cancel via a phone call. I was more excited until I saw the pic where it looked like an RP.

Not exactly. If it was hot, I'd not have sold. I'd have kept it for my collection. I like having "hot" moderns. I don't buy to flip. If it were not, I'd have simply cancelled. I was more into it until I saw the pic where it looked like an RP. Definitely not because there was money to be made.

I have my V75 Gold, Flowing hair, a herd of 2008 Buffs, etc. If my goal was to make money, I've have sold all of these.

Usually, if I sell, its to finance other coins. I sold one of my UHRs today to offset this. I definitely didn't buy a 70 today to make money. I think that the downside is way higher than any upside. I just like "hot" modern issues. I hope that this makes sense. I worked all night. If not, that's my excuse.

I don't know how "economy" matters. That doesn't change when it leaves the Mint, especially when there's only a few thousand to ship.

So, you have to refresh to get the button to turn. That was clearly my mistake.I stupidly did not understand that I thought it would just turn at noon as long as I was on the page.

Ultimately, that probably describes most "collectors". Very few of us admit that the purchase is lost money for amusement. Collectors are GENERALLY (yes, I'm generalizing);either scratching their completeness itch or "investing" (gambling) on future appreciation. Look at how many of these 2026 Mint threads have been nothing but discussions of "what's hot?" Or "what has upside?" The minority of posts want them because of the SemiQ and even fewer seem to be in love with the aesthetics of the coins.

Personally, the main collectibles that I spend real money on, coins and firearms, are a combination of enjoyment of collecting but trying to buy things that will hold value. I don't look at either as an investment per se, but a fun way to diversify for the long hold. If my family understands and appreciates my collectibles, I'll likely hold them. If not, I'll sell as I get older (assuming no unexpected early demise).

I think that some of the enjoyment of "fine" collectibles is their value. I have bought many coins - moderns and otherwise - just because I like them (recent 1794 and 1795 0.50s for ex). I have no intention to sell, unless to upgrade. Over my many years of collecting coins and firearms, I've gotten a great deal of enjoyment from both. I've also chosen well so that, in their totality, each collection is worth more than I paid for them. Some of the coin appreciation is base metal, but some is not. I don't think that this "hybrid" mindset is unusual for people who put a lot of $ into collectibles.

Totally agree. I'm just trying to make you feel better by pointing out that you didn't really like the coin, and would have no interest if it was still available from the Mint. FOMO sometimes leads to bad decisions. There is going to be a TON of cool stuff coming from the Mint this year.

Not true. Everything has already left the Mint, and is sitting in Dallas waiting to be shipped. Overnight goes first, followed by the other stuff.

Yes, if it's only 4K items, they might all go the same day. But overnight will arrive tomorrow. Nothing else will, unless you live in the Dallas metro area.

Got one. Fastest sell out I can recall in 18 years of this. The V75 gold eagle may have been just as fast I dunno.

I got curious about that one and found this...............

The U.S. Mint’s 2020 "V75" World War II 75th anniversary coins sold out almost immediately, causing massive website crashes
:V75 Gold Eagle: The 1,945-coin mintage sold out within 7 minutes of its launch
.V75 Silver Eagle: The 75,000-coin mintage sold out in approximately 90 minutes.

My memory is more clear about the 2014 or was it the 2015 1 oz PR Plat Eagle, that sold out in 4 minutes. Edit: it was the 2015 which had a HHL of 1 and max mintage of 4000

    Absolutely true.

If it was still available I'd likely not be interested - unless it looked awesome in hand like the enhanced ASEs. I thought that's what these would look like until I saw the pic. W/gold this high, I any 1 oz coin is a lot to think about. Yet, I still have the buff to keep my sent going. I likely should have sold most all of them in Feb.

A ton of expensive gold coming up. I hope that spot drops!

The only reason that I sold a UHR is because I had a double. The 70 was a lot of $ and I wanted an offset. That said, the 70 First Days sure sold out super fast. I'm glad that I got one before they were repriced or sold out.

I was able to get one but then got screwed by Chase Bank on the 2nd one (multiple accounts, multiple addresses).

During checkout for the 2nd one, the Mint indicated there was a problem with my credit card - and then two seconds later I get a text from Chase telling me they declined a $5375.95 charge and asked if I authorized it. By the time I replied Yes and went to check back out - it was SOLD OUT! Thank-you Chase - you missed out on a nice Transaction Fee for that one! (of course, that transaction fee is couch cushion money (or lint) to Chase).

Beautiful coin, and I’m sure it looks better in person with the holder off, but what exactly makes this “enhanced” as opposed to reverse proof? I struggle to see the difference. Guess I’ll wait to inspect mine once it arrives!

"The Enhanced Uncirculated finish combines laser-frost which gives a shiny metallic effect, with laser-finish which gives a matte look. The combination allows for a unique high-contrast look."

Yes, I know that….but isn’t that the same as reverse proof?

It sounds like everyone who refreshed at noon exactly got one. Is that correct? Did anyone get shut out?

Lots of people got shut out because, if their timing was off, they were placed in the waiting room and didn't get out in 2 minutes. Again, you didn't want this yesterday. What changed? FOMO?

    FOMO!

My thought was to get one economy and see what happened. If it was hot, I'd take it. If not, I'd cancel via a phone call. I was more excited until I saw the pic where it looked like an RP.

I don't know how "economy" matters. That doesn't change when it leaves the Mint, especially when there's only a few thousand to ship.

Sigh, and you know this how? Yes, they MAY all be in Dallas or Memphis - did anyone get shipping notification yet? If not, then they aren't all in Dallas or Memphis yet.

As for economy vs overnight: The one time I paid for overnight, it took 5 days to ship. When I called the Mint, they said there was no guarantee that the overnight leaves the Mint faster than economy, only that the delivery service would be faster. As a result, I've never paid for overnight again.

I know this because all of my stuff always comes from Irving, TX, and because the one time I hit Express by mistake I had it the next day, while Economy usually takes around a week to get to me once they ship. Memphis was a bazillion years ago when they used a different fulfillment company.

The point was not Dallas or Memphis. The point is that they may not
be there yet. You're assuming they are. There have been several releases this year where the coins were not ready to ship immediately.

Did it turn red at all at 0730? I refreshed a lot and never saw it.
