As it's supposed to be. I wonder if the 15-BOT has 15 different households to mail them to?

How do you add something to the wish list? I don't even see that option when I go to the coin?

The heart next to the price on the order page. Click that then go check your "wish list" and it will be there.

  • There have been a number of basically instant sell outs, I couldn't list them off the top of my head, but the V75 AGE, the 2019 ERP ASE, and some minor issues come to mind. I wasn't 100% committed to this one, but also have extreme FOMO. I was on about 15 minutes early, I played with apractice order, changed cc info, and refreshed a few times a minute or two before noon. It went add to bag, I did, but then hesitated a few seconds to understand shipping costs, because I got burned on that with a prior release, went ahead and completed buy, then went in again to see remind me status, my FOMO instinct was on point, glad I didn't hesitate another couple seconds.

I have the order now "processing" and chose next day shipping, so we will see how this works out from here.

    Got it.

So, you just refresh the wish list screen, as opposed to clicking on the item, exactly at noon. Correct?

    Thx

Kinda correct, but I will admit to the occasional impatience and I refresh multiple times leading up to noon and then right at noon.

What I'm trying to understand is if one is logged on before noon, will the button turn to red or does one have to refresh exactly at noon?

In the past, I'd be logged on, would be sent to waiting room automatically.

    I've not seen this.

I'm trying to understand how it works in a case like this.

For me it did not, and has not on prior releases, turned red automatically, only after I refreshed.

No. See my post above. This has to be a reflection of their increasing their capacity to process orders. Because I don't think they were ever able to process over 2K individual orders per minute.

The question now is whether or not they will cancel bot orders. Because no waiting room, and 4K orders being processed in less than 2 minutes, means plenty of bots were probably involved.

There is no reason to cancel bot orders. The limit was one. Why would they care if someone executed the purchase by hand or automated? There is no prohibition on using automation to place an order. The limit is per household.

Well, here's someone sharing their bot getting 15 orders...

That's perfectly find as long as they are to different households. That's what they don't tell you.

So, you have to refresh to get the button to turn. That was clearly my mistake.I stupidly did not understand that I thought it would just turn at noon as long as I was on the page.

I was on way early obviously as you could tell from my posts but I did not refresh until a few seconds after noon , when I saw that it did not turn and that was too much.

Not stupid at all, I assumed in the past, especially with the waiting room, and the admonition to not refreesh, that it would turn automatically, until on a prior release when I was on three devices, I took the chance on one and found out. I still believe it should automatically flip.

That I cannot confirm. I am not sure if the Mint pages automatically refresh for you and give you the red order button or not. Try the Wish list on the next non-120 second sellout item and see how it works for you. I know you were o the fence on this one, but it sucks that you got shut out.

Indeed, in the end, I figured I would order one and do economy shipping, so I'd see how it went & if I wanted it I could keep it , otherwise I could cancel , but I was trying to get one.

I thought it would be no problem , but I did not realize you had to refresh for it to turn red because before i've just ended up in the waiting room and bought from there.

    Tough lesson to learn.

Sucks to get shut out by a bunch of buyers club people shooting for credit card points and fifty bucks.

Wish I knew how to use a bot.

I got sent to the waiting room when I refreshed at 11:59:56 (timestamp on the waiting room). Wait was under a minute and I was able to purchase. I was on ~10 min prior, able to login and didn't see a waiting room at all until 11:59.

I just got my confirmation email number (after the initial Thanks email).

Raufus, I opened up my desktop around 8:35 am PST simply because I was in the middle of doing other things and not really expecting to buy. I did see that Gold spot began to rally, so maybe that gave me a push. Still I did not expect anything.

I ignored the desktop screen and went about doing stuff in another room, by the time I came back it was maybe 1 minute before opening and I immediately got the waiting room with 1 minute to go. Then the screen went into the AGE page that was already open before. The red buy box was not up yet. Odd I thought. After a bit the banner changed to BUY. So I bought and casually signed in and did the payment stuff. Less stress than with other lower priced 'hot' stuff.
Well,, shazaam, it went through !

I like to think about how much of the demand for a $5000+ modern issue coin is people who actually want it for their collection versus people who are just told to buy it for me and I’ll give gas money.

I bet a whole host of mint products have much lower demand in real life than these sellouts indicate.

This one may be different. Really cool looking with the dual dates:

    NY had my number.

I sucked it up and bought a PCGS SP70 First Day

In the end, it was about $1500 more than the Mint. It woukd cost me $300+ to grade, a 70 is not assured and I don't thjnk I could get that label.

I was able to get one but then got screwed by Chase Bank on the 2nd one (multiple accounts, multiple addresses).

During checkout for the 2nd one, the Mint indicated there was a problem with my credit card - and then two seconds later I get a text from Chase telling me they declined a $5375.95 charge and asked if I authorized it. By the time I replied Yes and went to check back out - it was SOLD OUT! Thank-you Chase - you missed out on a nice Transaction Fee for that one! (of course, that transaction fee is couch cushion money (or lint) to Chase).

They may have gone to a B&M mint, I was going to call the Philadelphia mint to see if they had any if I wasn't able to order on line. It's a 45 minute drive for me but it's a hassle to drive into center city.

I know that it will not help this time. But, maybe it will avoid a repeat in the future.

I had an issue like this in the past, too. So now, whenever I plan to make a >$1K purchase from the Mint, I contact my credit card company, and do a 'large purchase notification' the day before 'release/purchase'. This way, they know that the charge is potentially coming, and have instructions to process it. Since I started to do this, I have not had any more issues.

    Thank you.

I should have it pretty quickly since it was one of the big boys that got theirs early.

I wanted to be short of snag one before they got repriced after the quicksel.

Oddly , I got it for less than many of the raw ones have sold for.

If I can get to my phone at the right time.I might give it a shot tomorrow morning, just for kicks.

Music pretty lucky with grading and certainly spent a thousand bucks that I would not have had to if I got a seventy although I probably couldn't have gotten that label.

Yes. I had time - I had two different accounts/browsers going (phone & computer).

I completed the 1st sale in under 25-30 seconds after adding it to the bag (after re-freshing the page at 11:59 and sitting in a 1min waiting room)

At 12:01 PM, I was buying the 2nd coin and that's when I got hit w/the fraud alert that delayed my purchase of the 2nd coin. The Chase denied coin is still in my bag (although I can't check out - saving it there until tomorrow mornings refresh).
I'd say it was 12:02 when I tried to check out after clearing the fraud warning and was told there was no more!

I believe in the past that they have. Period.

The "prohibition" is that they reserve the right to reject any order for any reason, and that they believe automation gives an unfair advantage to people who use it. To the extent they also believe buyers clubs and others are using proxies using bots, that would be a violation of the HHL, and another reason to cancel orders.

Not saying that they will. Just saying that they can. And that they have in the past.

If they didn't care about being fair, they could just sell them all to Big Mike and be done with it. Very efficient distribution, to the extent you and @jmlanzaf care about such things.

The second one??!! U had time to get to checkout w two??

I am just astonished. I couldn't even get one.

If this had been a "normal" sellout - one that had taken 10-15 mins, you would have had time...but the low mintage (or whatever the number was left to the dirty masses) and last min hype from the buyers led to a 2min sellout - even I was completely astonished as how fast they went.

Makes me wonder - who's getting the better deal? The flippers ($250 profit) or the buying clubs?

    Damn. Got shut out.

I was obviously logged in way early.

For you guys who were logged in w no waiting room, did it turn to avaliable or did you get sent to waiting room?

After it hit noon and it still did not turn, I refreshed and went to waiting room.

It said 1 then 2 min. Then, unavailable.

I thought you were taking a pass.

    SOLD OUT before 12:02

I DID tell everyone. I said under 5 minutes. 2 minutes is probably a new record.

With no lag and and no waiting room. They cleared scaled their capacity to process orders.

NOTE...this is an attempt at humor.......*****

You DID say 5 minutes, so I guess WRONG again! LOL

Seriously though, have we ever seen an under 2 minute sellout?

And, I said LESS THAN 5 minutes, so not wrong! :)

But seriously, no one has ever seen anything go in less than 2 minutes. It's all the buyer clubs.

Because, while these are "special" due to the finish, dual dating and privy, it is STILL 2.5x the quantity sold in each of the past 2 years. And due to the recent price action of gold, the premium is probably an all time high at over $1,000 per ounce.

They would have sold out anyway, but not nearly this fast if not for all the non-collectors slamming the site to collect their $50 and airline miles. Especially after the mintage went from 6K to 7500. OTOH, holding back 3500 from public sale certainly helped accelerate the sell out.

They have long been able to process 2000 orders per minute. 2 minutes may be a record, but that's more about the small supply than the> @NJCoin said:

There is no reason to cancel bot orders. The limit was one. Why would they care if someone executed the purchase by hand or automated? There is no prohibition on using automation to place an order. The limit is per household.

I don't know when I ever said that, but thanks for thinking of me!

    Got mine no problem

Please see my post and let me know how it went for you.

I logged in at 8 minutes prior to noon and had no issue. Surfed around the site a bit and went to my Wish list. Refreshed twice at noon and it was available. Easy checkout and waiting my confirmation email Got the acknowledgement of order with order number.

So odd how our experience was different yet we did the same thing yet I was sent to the waiting room

Did u wait to see it it would turn at noon or refresh right at noon?

Your timing was just off. Likely by mere seconds, given all the likely bot action.

Got one. Fastest sell out I can recall in 18 years of this. The V75 gold eagle may have been just as fast I dunno.

The V75 was nowhere as fast, because capacity to process orders was nowhere near as robust. Back then, people kept loading a cart and then getting kicked out during checkout. It took way longer than 2 minutes before they sold out a much smaller quantity. More like 20-30 minutes.

Well, here's someone sharing their bot getting 15 orders...

Those will hopefully be canceled and placed back on sale tomorrow. All 15 of them.

I got curious about that one and found this...............

The U.S. Mint’s 2020 "V75" World War II 75th anniversary coins sold out almost immediately, causing massive website crashes
:V75 Gold Eagle: The 1,945-coin mintage sold out within 7 minutes of its launch
.V75 Silver Eagle: The 75,000-coin mintage sold out in approximately 90 minutes.

It sounds like everyone who refreshed at noon exactly got one. Is that correct? Did anyone get shut out?

Lots of people got shut out because, if their timing was off, they were placed in the waiting room and didn't get out in 2 minutes. Again, you didn't want this yesterday. What changed? FOMO?

The drop in ATS was incredible. After my order I went to check ATS and every few seconds that I refreshed that page it dropped by 1,000 (give or take)
