Beautiful 1921 Morgan purchase

Morgan13Morgan13 Posts: 2,403 ✭✭✭✭✭

I have an interest in really nice 1921 Morgan's.
I purchased this one recently.
The strike is about as good as they come.
The contrast is also amazing. I believe the coin is PL.
It would be exciting to have it come back dmpl but from what I hear pcgs has been pretty tight handing them out.

    64 PL seems about right.
    Do you agree?

I think your right about the grade.
I think what's impressive is the strike and contrast.
Here is a 64PL that I do not own that is in a pcgs holder right now on ebay.
Nice coin but just for comparison.

    Your mirrors do pop.
Unfortunately, as you are aware, it is a huge leap between PL and DMPL for the 1921 and PCGS.

Why would 1921 be different than any other year?

Any chance of pl on this 1921?

I would say no. Usually they show up as black and white. That coin has nice luster though.
Hold your finger in front of it. If you can see it 4 inches away it likely a PL.

Maybe it's the lighting, but that coin looks awfully hazy, and with how the cheek looks so clean above the jaw and has a lot of chatter along the jaw, I'm inclined to say it looks like it's been puttied and has turned in the holder. It's not a good photo so maybe I'm wrong, but as picture, that doesn't look like a nice coin at all.

I’d estimate the chances of a PL designation for that coin at 0%, as I don’t see even a hint of reflectivity.

An uncommon beauty! Not typical of a 1921 Morgan.

Not my coin but it is in a pcgs ms64pl gold shield holder.
    Mine looks so much nicer.
