Philly Peace Dollar Date Set

Peace_dollar88Peace_dollar88 Posts: 1,255 ✭✭✭✭✭

I decided to finish my philly date set of Peace Dollars. I prefer blast white coins and certification by PCGS and CAC. A little late to the party because it seems that the prices have soared in the last 5 years. Below is what I have so far.

Like you I prefer blast white PCGS CAC combos on my Peace dollars. When I read your comments I assumed maybe you needed to fill a few holes to complete the set, but you have a long way to go. Nevertheless, you have 3 outstanding examples so far! :)

Excellent examples. I completed this set awhile back, but am still working on a few upgrades to get to what I consider completion. That’s a nice 1928!

Solid looking coins. And you got 2 of the tougher dates early on, that's how we're supposed to do it

Edited to “10” coin set. Thanks Mike.

I’ve put together a DATE set, like you. By sticking with the more common Philly mint for each date, it allows us to afford somewhat higher grades for that 10 coin set, compared to the grades our respective budgets would allow with having to obtain coins with every mint mark too.. Like you, the eye appeal I like is also highly lustrous, blast white. These coins then look how the designer envisioned they would look! Also like you, I was patient to only buy coins that merit a CAC sticker.

Best of luck in your hunt for additional coins for your lovely set! Enjoy!

This is a nice way to collect Peace dollars. The S-issues are fun, but they're expensive and they often don't come as nice as the Philly issues. The D-issues are sort of in-between.

Looks like a nicely matched bunch. The 34 is especially nice.

Excellent progress! I really like the ‘34. You should have no problems finding a nice ‘24, but the ‘27 is a tough one. It was good that you acquired a very nice ‘28 early on.

Lovely coins, and a great start!

I keep a slider set over at CACG and Mycollect. It's very satisfying finding just the right coin for a slot. I'll likely be refining it for years.
