PSA Vintage card grading faster then Modern

Not sure if this is the usual standard or they use different graders that vintage moves faster then modern. I submitted a Value Bulk (1980-present) 23 cards - received Feb 13 still in Research & ID. I then submitted a Value Bulk (1979-older) 29 cards - received on April 20 and on May 8 moved to Grading. I am sure it will get stuck for sometime yet.
I was shocked to get the email yesterday this order had moved to grading

Well, for perspective I have a vintage sub that arrived 11/06/25 that has been sitting in assembly for a couple of months now.
I have had 2 modern subs sent in, 1 in Jan and 1 in Feb. They have both been finished. I think each submission is its own creature.

That’s great to hear. They needed to get the schedule under control. Hopefully they’ve made real progress on it.

Someone also has to review every single card to make sure you are upcharged the appropriate amount.

I can't figure out their schedule at all. I just pray that vintage graders are the only people grading my stuff. I hope that PSA knows that we don't want a newbie grading our vintage cards.

Looking for high grade rookie cards and unopened boxes/cases

My vintage grading order value bulk vintage - 29 cards is still moving along - April 20 order arrived, as of today its in QA check - Your grades are being reviewed a second time for accuracy.
Value bulk 1980 newer submission arrived Feb 13 still in research & ID.

I think thats the frustrating part when it gets stuck for no reason. Better info would help

Hmm... shouldn't the QA step "grades are being reviewed a second time for accuracy" be before the assembly stage into PSA holders or is this step meant for cards that may have gotten damaged in assembly stage... am I right?

Yeah I know what you mean, that would make sense. But it already went thru the assembly stage earlier this week

I don't think QA2 is a stage anymore. My vintage sub has progressed to QA checks.

Seems like a PAIN in the ARSE to holder the card then if for some reason the grade needs to be change in the QA check stage only to crack it out? again and re-label it. Prolly best to do the QA checks before the card is sealed in a holder unless they are just checking for damage during the assembly process.

This makes a ton of sense, but they actually need to do a much more thorough QA/QC check at both points, before and after holdering. I've been frustrated to find mech errors on my orders even after they passed review prior to holdering when for example PSA switches a couple cards in the order and mismatches them with each other's holders/labels, even if they were identified and graded correctly. If the return process were much much faster, it wouldn't be as big of a deal, but considering how long they take to process orders, it is shockingly disappointing to see such frequent labeling mistakes still making it through.

My Value Bulk (1979-older) 29 cards - received on April 20 and on May 8 moved to Grading and had the grades pop on Friday May 29. Crazy how fast this order. But grades nothing exciting to see

Value Bulk (1980-present) 23 cards - received Feb 13 still in Research & ID still no update.

Here are a few of the cards disappointed with Bobby Orr thought was a psa 4 and Billy Pierce I thought would be higher then psa 3

    . Other ones ok
